 Am I really the Weirdo?

Location: Kansas | I'm chasing district NBHA points this year and we only have 5 more shows scheduled so I am having to suck it up and run in an arena I don't really love. Our first race there this fall was yesterday and it was the best day I've ever had there. The "Big 3" didn't make me rich or pile up a ton of district points but they worked pretty well. Unfortunately, Joker wasn't able to make the trip because he choked Monday evening, but I'm hoping I'll have him back in the lineup for our next NBHA Nov. 9th or at least by the 23rd.
Clifford: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XouMD6_89uU&feature=youtu.be We have had a terrible time making clean runs in this barn, but we got it done yesterday. I switched him to a Jim Warner hack between rounds of the state NBHA show last weekend and so far it is working really well. He caught the 2nd barrel in round 2 of state to be 2nd in the 1D, and we were about 7th in the 1D yesterday even after we had to tiptoe around the 3rd to keep it standing. This is an arena I think he can do really well in so I'm glad we started the fall off with a good run and added to our 1D district points in the process. That puts us 3rd in the 1D standings and I'm hoping we can move up to 2nd by the end of the year.
Chance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhPuAXnOO2Q&feature=youtu.be He really does not like this pen. He was amazing at State NBHA in a pen where you can really run at the first barrel and so our 2nd in the 2D finish was disappointing yesterday. This arena has concrete about 10 feet behind the gate so you can't send one from way back, and Chance needs more time to get rolling in order to really clock. It was still our fastest run in that pen and it paid for the day. Won't get us any district points because the 2D points will start about a tenth slower than what we ran. Joker has me in about 4th in the very close 2D standings so hopefully he's able to finish the year and make a run at the saddle. (though my boyfriend & HIS Joker are currently leading it......this could be interesting LOL)
Streak: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYb_6_QE-b8&feature=youtu.be He's never been entered at Lawrence, but we did our first exhibitions there and I think he'll be able to do well there the rest of the year. We were 10th in the 4D and I think when they adjust where the 4D starts for points, then kick out a non-member or two, we'll get at least 1 or 2 points. We're not in the top 5 of the points quite yet, but Streak may get to make some runs for Matt as he tries to hold on to 1st. His new gelding has really come on the last couple weeks and ran mid-3D so Matt may be needing some help in the 4D. Though if I ever do my job right at the third barrel, Streak could be too fast for the 4D. |
