| My 18 month old filly has been having issues with her right front ankle. She will just be walking along, then her ankle will just give out and buckle, then she trips, and continues walking like normal. This happens all the, whether she is walking, trotting, or running around. She also tends to just walk most of the time.. Doesn't have much energy like I'd think she should have.
Turns out she had x Rays done last December with her previous owners. I was given the records, and they were told she had inflammation of her growth plates in her right front ankle, and that it should heal on its own in a couple of months.
Well it has been almost a year now, and she is still the same. I was giving her about 4 lbs of grain and 12 lbs of grass/alfalfa hay per day. But now I have taken her off the grain, and upped the hay to about 15 lbs a day.
Has anyone else had a young horse with this problem? Did they recover normally? Her joints are all definitely still open.. Will they be able to close properly with the inflammation?
Really appreciate any input, I am very worried as I had high hopes for her future. |

| I will if it keeps persisting with no results. Hoping to hear others experiences. I've been researching and it sounds like "physitis", bu again it is supposed to get better pretty quick with a no grain diet. |

Location: Gainesville, TX | You can treat epiphysitis with Rejuvinaide. It's a supplement that helps them level out their mineral levels that often cause this issues. My two year old has a bit of soreness in her hind end and is on this to help (seems to be too). Honestly though, with the buckling and the lethargy, I'd have her checked for wobblers too. |

wobblers usually presents in the hind end. the lethargy does make me wonder if something is going on though. |

| I will look into the Rejuvinaide, thank you! She has good and bad days I'm noticing. Some days she will be visibly limping on that leg, and others will look normal until she trips. I'm in the process of moving this week, and won't see her for a month while I'm away. So the soonest I can have a vet out will be once shes moved with me, in December. I'm crossing my fingers that it won't get worse. |

Yearling growth plate issues?
