Anyone had to treat this before? Swelling above and right below front knee (carpal sheath), but not lame. Currently 2 weeks off with 5 days bute and cold hose treatment.

Curious how long it took for swelling to go away and get back into training.

Did you get an ultrasound? Any sign of "cyst" in the region? Did your vet not inject with steroid?

I would ice for 30  min. daily. The longer ice time will cause a vasodilation to occur. This is helpful in some cases in carrying away "debris" from the site of injury.
As always, time on Dr. Green helps.

No ultrasound done and no cyst. No steroid injected either, is that necessary?? I was told 4 weeks off and cold hose for 10 days.

How old is this horse? In my experience I've seen small fractures cause the sweeling above the joint. Below most always soft tissue below.

Horse is 4 years old. The original thought was that she hit it in the trailer or stall. It is on the outside of the front knee. Soft and squishy and no lameness at all on it.
