| I am doing some research on Bison trailers. I am looking at the cheaper model which is aluminum on steel frame. Any experiences with these? I'm in the 35K range.
I want something with a warranty, tired of dealing with nickel and dime problems. So please don't tell me to buy a used 4 star or platinum. I also refuse to pay more for a trailer than I did for my house. |

Location: Cap'n Joan Rotgut.....alberta | the dealer we bought our kiefer from wont even take them on trade..very flimsy.....................thats all i know about them, i have a friend that just bought a brand new one and one of the tie hooks is already off.

Location: EDGE OF INSANITY | I have one thats about 6 years old. I like it (for the price) but we have had two drop down windows come loose, one of the tie off break, my horse's foot hit one of the clasps (that keeps the back door closed) when backing off and broke it, two of the bars at the horse's butt window have had to be welded back on, and and the jack has been replaced twice. You get what you paid for lol |

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | From what I hear, Lakota is a better way to go on a budget. I've looked them over and from what I could tell they're not bad trailers, but the little finishes don't compare with the higher end trailers either. |

I would go with a Logan over a Bison any day. You will have a hard time getting rid of the Bison if you don't like it and a lot of placed won't even take them in on trades. |

Location: Usually on my horse | I bought one brand new in 2005. It is an Alumasport, 3 horse with a slide. I love the trailer. Never had any problems with anything on it. I do keep it indoors and it still looks new. I am actually looking at another newer one and would buy another Bison in a heart beat |

if you are looking for a trailer that will last 10 years I would find a different one.

| My cousin has a bison, and for the price, it has stood up fairly good for the abuse it has took.
I have friends who have Lakotas, all have had warranty work done, two the problem could not be fixed, one no slide, but dirt gets into the LQ and it is lots of dirt. The other has a slide, the slide is screwed, it went back twice, finally the people traded it in on a no slide.
Lakota from the sounds of it are quite good for warranty work |

Location: Texas!! | I bought a New Bison a few months ago. So far I love it! I was tired of looking at used trailers that were so high priced, and it's harder to get them financed through a bank when they are older. I did get the aluminum frame. We also have a Cherokee trailer with a custom living quarters, and I can tell the living quarters in the Bison is cheaper made, but I plan on taking care of it! It pulls really good too. |

Location: Jersey Girl | When I started looking for a LQ in my budget (25k) I had initially looked at and considered a Bison Trail Hand. While I liked the price I didn't like the quality of the interior. I felt the cabinets were very cheaply made. Flimsy. I wanted something that would last us 10 yrs or more so I decided to go with a higher end, older trailer. (2004 Exiss).
A good friend of mine has owned a Bison Stratus for over a year and they have hauled all over the place. She is very happy with it. |

| I bought a 2003 Bison BP 2 horse straight load. It got picked up and sent through a fence in the El Reno tornado before being dropped on its side. The front end had some damage but the horse compartment was still in perfect condition.
We set it upright and had the frame checked out. I've since fixed all the cosmetic damage and still use it. I would definitely get another Bison. |

Location: wherever my daughter's running | We have a 2005 Bison 3 horse slant with living quarters. We bought it new and have had no problems. It has been used -daughter used it for college rodeo. We really enjoy ours . Tons of storage room in the lq and our cabinets look like new and have held up great to heavy use. It pulls great and horses are rested and ready to go even after a long haul so they must travel pretty comfortable. We would not hesitate to buy another one down the road, but the 2005 is still looking and going good |

| I bought mine 3 years ago, needed lots of room for the kids. We jack knifed it on an icy bridge. Totaled the truck and the trailer held up freat! One bent axle and a little nose work. Would I buy another one? No.
The dealer that does repairs only carries them because they make so much money on doing warranty work. (Straight out of the service managers mouth!) |
