Location: Texas | and started browsing craigslist again. No, I did not buy another craigslist horse! But I did see there's an open horse show 30 minutes from my house tomorrow. It's been YEARS since I showed anything, and I don't have enough time to get all my English garb cleaned up... I don't even know if it fits anymore.. but I thought, shoot, why not enter Georgia in halter. No, I don't have anything at the house that is halter type... which I'm not upset about, LOL, but she's cute and balanced and it would be fun to get to do SOMETHING with her since I never really did much with her other than use her as a broodmare.
So I went to the store, bought clippers, bands, and hoof black.. I cut and banded her mane, and found out she does in fact clip... even ears.. and enjoys it. haha. So I took this picture of her pampering.
While I was at it, I thought why not see what the babies do with the clippers. I tried with Georgia's colt first...He's the firewater ta fame. My sister held him and I worked the clippers. I rubbed them on him, let him smell them, then turned them on.. he was cool. I let them vibrate on his neck and he was fine. So I started clipping his bridle path... he was fine... so I cleaned it up and made it nice.. still fine. Then I let him sniff the clippers and he let me clip his muzzle. I didn't clip much because I don't want to take his whiskers away. LOL.
THEN I tried with Lulu.. Lucy's First Down French colt. I did the same thing, but she was *not* a fan when I actually started clipping her. Like...nope, not having any part of it! She is definitely her mother's daughter. LOL. By the end of it we settled with standing still while the clippers were running. She did learn how to snort today. hahah.

It really was a small open show but Georgia won aged mares, solid color class, and reserve champion mare! I went ahead and showed Lucy in schooling hunter under saddle and hunter under saddle 19 and over, and she won both classes! Sometimes she was a little fast and we lost our head set a couple times, but her transitions were spot on…although she was a little over zealous with going from walk to a canter…but that's her job to transition up fast so I couldn't get mad at her! It was so much fun. Pictures to come in a minute! |

Location: Texas | Thank you everyone! It was really good for Lucy to go somewhere and not run barrels… just go in the arena and ride. She had her moments where she got a little excited but it overall was great for her. Georgia LOVED getting to go do something. She was all over it.
Okay so then after the horse show, we met up with the owners of Sun of a Bunny and ended up swapping my three year old Rock Solid Jess filly who has ringbone for a yearling colt by their stud! His name is Jed. They were looking for running bred mares to cross on their stallion and I couldn't pass up their colt. He's AWESOME! Pictures in a minute :P.

Let me preface it was NOT the toughest show I've been to by far... but there were a handful of horses in all the classes I entered... |
