| Just read on Fox News bad winter storm coming. Looks like Mid West is going to get hammered. Including the Dakotas and Montana. Sending good thought your way. They said temps 40 degrees below average. Yikes. Stay warm |

Location: Buffalo, Wyoming | Here in Northern Wyoming we are getting the tail end of it. I don't think it will be near as cold as the Dakotas but it is 10 above right now not including the wind. We were 60 yesterday so this is a big temperature change for us. We spent all weekend getting things ready for the storm and got done just in time.
We are not supposed to get above freezing for 2 weeks but I am hoping it lets up a little. |

Location: North Dakota | We woke up to about six inches of fresh snow this morning and 15 degree temps:) Not too much snow, but I would much prefer the 50 degree temps we had last week!
This whole week isn't suppose to get out of the teens for highs:( This is January weather for ND, not November.

| I worked all weekend to try to prepare for it. My husband goes back to work tomorrow and sometimes works long hours during the cold, so it leaves the kids and I to do all the work. It can be a chore to break ice and feed in the freezing cold with a 6 month old and a 5 yr old. LOL! |

Horses all have lots of grass hay, my favorites have heavy blankets and they all have lots of warm water. I had to be at the Dr this morning, roads were snowpacked and slick. 10 day forcast doesn't look enjoyable.

We got all the horses arranged and the water tanks prepped on Saturday preparing for this. I'm not ready for fall to be over with! Tonight's low is supposed to be -3 F and tomorrow's high is supposed to be 8 F. Whoever is moving south, can I hitch a ride with you guys??? |

Speak for your area of AZ. LOL. My end of AZ has been seeing Highs in the 40's and lows in the 20's. Had some flurries last week. Granted that's still much warmer than some others. I'm ready for Spring.... |

Location: Central Montana | It is not too bad here in central Montana tonight. It is about 12 degrees at 10PM. The wind is still so there is no windchill, or next to none.
Blanketed both of my horses today, more for my peace of mind than the fact that they were cold because neither were a bit chilled and took off when I tried to blanket.......I didn't take a rope or halter with me.
The worst part for me personally is that it rained for about 2 hours last night before it started snowing, so, the roads were super icy today and it is about a 30 mile drive to work. We didn't get more than a dusting of snow last night but it is starting to come down tonight. |

Its so hard on animals when it rains before it turns cold.

This morning, it was 31 degrees, raining/sleeting and then it snowed. |

Awww, that's not so bad... My first job milking cows was about 100 miles up the road from her and I remember the winter (Jan) of 82 we had -20 with a 20 mph wind and 15 inches of snow on the ground... I went through some cold winters in Missouri but the worst one was in Idaho. We had snow a week after Thanksgiving and it was still on the ground on the 15th of April... That was when I decided I'd had enough of cold weather and came south the following September. |

You must be in the mountains. I am in southern Idaho and we didn't get any snow, but the wind chill was -7 this morning. The horses didn't seem too cold, but I think they were happy to get extra hay this morning to keep warm. |

| I talked to my friend yesterday, who has moved south of Houston. Said she was freezing and that she was going to blanket her horses......it was in the mid 50s!!!
Seriously??!! I was out yesterday and was too warm in a lightweight, long sleeved shirt and it was in the 50s. Now it is in the 30s and looking forward to lows in the 20s and teens.....it is too freakin early for this crap!!
Global warming anyone?
Looks like I need to break out the tanks warmers and timers.. Forget that breaking the ice.

Location: Central Montana | It is negative 2 here and not quite 10 PM yet tonight. It felt COLD tonight. Thank God there is no wind.
I get a kick out of the people that just have to blanket or sheet their horses if it gets below 50, 45, whatever, that isn't even freezing yet. My "kids" need all the hair they can grow and still got their blankets when it hovered around 10.
40's is still shorts and fip flop weather for a lot of folks around here (not me, I don't wear short usually even when it gets over a 100.) Heck, there were people wearing sandals (flip flops) to work today......................
