We recently found a cyst in my 10yr old's stifle. We injected the stifle and did not have luck with it, he will be brought in to have it scoped/ removed soon. Anyone have experience with this? How long are they out after surgery? Is the surgery typically successful?
mine was a success. i had it done around mid July a couple years ago. He was out until Feb then legged up and running by april. I don't ride in the winter so that is why he had so much time off. If you do it now you will be in fine shape come spring! i think they recommend 4-6 month before competing.

I agree... give them way more time than the vet says they need. I followed the protocol given and it was not enough time for my mare to figure out everything was all better. I sold her as a broodmare prospect but I bet if she were to get legged up now that she's had so much time off she would be brand new.
