Location: Probably On the Road to the Next Barrel Race! | Looking at a Peptoboonsmall and CD Olena horse...its only 5 and is making outstanding runs in mid bottom of 2D, just cruising, never been asked for speed, though it is running fairly hard. I'm so used to running bred horses....can a 100% cutting bred horse hang with the running bred ones? Would ya'll consider buying it? I really like this horse, and it is not cheap...what do ya'll think? |

Location: Alberta | Any horse has the potential, never know till you try....my friend has a cutting bred gelding who has won an amateur rodeo championship and many jackpots, also a Pro Rodeo win this year and finished top 20 in the standings......

| I have had two all cutting bred one mare I sold was pepto taz and doc quoxtie(sp) she can turn and run easy to ride. I just boughta high brow cat gelding that I think is going to be great. They are usually so athletic and easy to train. Don't let the "no running" line stop you |

Location: Somewhere around here | My cutting bred horse isn't tiny at all, he's actually 15.2 hands this year and turning 6 this spring!

I do say that you should try him out first. I know it can be difficult from going from running "running bred" style horses to something different. Some cutting bred are more ratey than others and some are freerunny (like my boy). |

Location: Buffalo, Wyoming | We owned one for 5 years and that is all she wanted to do was run. She could out run a few of our all race bred horses. I am pretty sure that is why they culled her out of the cutting pen, that and you could ride her for miles and miles every day and she was still wanting to go. She was my SO's calf horse and I started on the pattern after everything else I had came up lame this year. She took to them very fast but thought she knew everything once you showed her once.
We bought her as a 3 year old and sold her this year as an 8 year old. The guy that bought her loves her. |

I would say some are smaller than Stingray but most are not. Ours was probably the same height but she wasn't as long backed as Stingray. |

Yep, I was just telling my husband's adorable little heeling horse this morning "You little fart, if you were only a hand taller and a few inches longer, I would so be happy to ride you."
He's a stout grandson of High Brow Cat and 14.1. I feel like the Jolly Green Giant on him. My husband loves his height.

This sounds exactly like mine. I love her, and she is super quick. She is on the small side. |

| I had one that was a cutting reject due to being like 15.3, 1200 lbs...most fun on a barrel horse I've ever had, she could turn so fast you'd fall off if you weren't paying attention! Never lacked in the speed department either. She was Bueno Chex and Docs Quixote (sp) |

Location: Adopt a homeless pet - www.petfinder.com! | I don't think you can beat them for pure athleticism. Some will have the speed, some won't. If he's cruising a second off then he sounds like he could be acompetitive horse when finished. Just depends where you're planning on running him. I absolutely love them and they are all I've ever had to this point.

Location: where the wind blows | I love the cow breeding. The one you are looking at would be exactly what I'd look for if I were looking. Agree with Ridejg lots are winning on cow breds. My neighbours stand a son of Docs Hickory and his offspring are wicked fast plus that quick athletic ability. And although he's small some of his offspring are tapping out at 15.1-15.2. I say go for it. Sounds like a nice horse.

Location: Central Montana | Like everything else, it depends on the horse. Some can run, some can get down and turn...........I personally love a performance/race cross. If you like it, then definitely worth putting the time into. |

I wouldn't consider Worm or Louie as 100% cow
As Louie's dam is by Judge Cash who has become a broodmare sire
Worm is by Streak of Fling who made his mark on the race track.
100% cow, it all depends on how fast they are in straight aways, and the average size of your arenas.
If you run in small pens, the horse will do great regardless of speed, if he has the agility, if you run regulation all the time the horse will need speed. |

Sigh...Cheryl, I did not mean that Louis, Worm and Rootie were cowbreds...just that they were in the finals as well...
