I have someone online that I want to trade saddles with. What is the best way to go about it to protect myself?
. Like I ship the saddle and they don't. The person/saddle is across the country so not like I can meet the person.
Whats also the cheapest way to ship a saddle?

After helping my friend go through Sheriffs reports, doing online searches looking for the rat bastard that cheated her which if memory serves me correct I asked here on BHW looking for the punk and yes we found her! My dear friend was scammed bad. Don't do it. When I sat with the Sheriff he even said - don't do it. Too many freaks and crooks out there.

It's far easier to sell yours and buy theirs than trade. I've been scammed once and that's the last time I'll do a trade.
I like this idea. You send them money, they send you money.
But.....what's the difference, risk-wise? If you send them money, what guarantees they send you the saddle? You could go through Paypal to send the money so that you'd have some protection BUT that cost a ton of money in fees......

Have you talked to this person in person? I have done the trading saddle, was really simple we talked a few times over the phone and I got the feeling she was a very nice lady, so we picked a day that we both would go to our UPS at the same time we called each other when we got there and we both talk to the lady behind the counter we each got a tracking number over the phone each of our UPS lady's checked it all out so we were good to go. I have done this twice. But you need to talk to them to and feel them out..

The best way and to be protected is to send each other a paypal invoice, explaining each item in detail and paying each others invoice and sending each other the saddles. That way you are both covered by paypal.

I agree with using paypal and just paying each other. If the saddles are ~$2,000 each the paypal fees will only be around $60. It's really a small price to pay to make sure you're protected.
