My husband ordered a product over the phone and all the sudden we are receiving magazines in the mail. He called the product he ordered and they deny any involvement. In the meantime we are getting billed for the magazines. I've called to try to cancel and was told we can't until the subscribition has run out. I haven't paid any of the bills, but don't want to get turned over to collection, or have this appear on a credit check. Help! I've called the better business bureau and left messages, - that were never returned.

Send a certified "return receipt" letter to each of the magazines to cease and desist.......save a copy of the letter and any responses. Legally, you can keep anything mailed to you without payment IF they can not prove that you ordered them. Should you get turned over to collection be sure to send all copies to the credit companies.

edited to add: These companies will ask you an innocuous question (i.e. about a trial subscription, etc) to get your release to sign you up. They then get a "kick-back" from the magazine company.

The crazy thing is more and more different, and I mean different magazines that we have never heard of or would ever buy are coming. Very flusterating. Has anyone else had this happen? What did you do?

MANY years ago I had a subscription to Cosmo and even after I cancelled it, they still sent me issues--and bills. I ignored them because they knew I had cancelled, but were still trying to keep me on the hook. They eventually stopped sending them to me, I was never sent to collections, and it has never shown up on a credit report.
So my advice is to just ignore it and they'll eventually stop sending them.

Oh I HATE when companies send you unwanted magazines, i wanted to end a subscription but they keep sending them but I haven't been billed but I would be IRATE if I was! Hope you get it figured out, sounds like other people have offered good suggestions, definitely document EVERYTHING you do!

I had this happen when I was in college.  Literally dozens of magazines would come each month (and very rarely one I actually would have wanted to read).  It went on for YEARS.  Some of them were sent to my parents house and I think they finally stopped getting them about two years ago - after getting them in the mail for almost a decade!  I never got billed for anything and I have no idea where they came from.  It was bizarre!
