Sometimes the decisions we make in life are not always between right or wrong. There are times when we are deciding about what is wise and unwise. There are issues regarding the Christian life that believers may have different views about.
These are not matters that are primary to the gospel but are secondary or tertiary issues. We have to be careful how we state our convictions on these issues lest we build walls that divide us instead of promoting unity in the body. Perhaps no other issue has proven to be more inflammatory than the use of alcohol. It has been hotly debated through the ages.
Scripture makes a compelling case that anything that leads us astray in our walk with the Lord and our relationship with others is not wise, and that is not limited with the issue of alcohol. The whole of Proverbs is about gaining wisdom that leads us to a fuller experience in life. We would be foolish to participate in anything that might rob us of God's best of us.
Never make these issues a test of fellowship with those who differ with you, but encourage all to follow after wisdom
Proverbs 20 Wine is a mocker, Strong drink is a brawler, and whoever is led astray by it is not wise.
