I just bought a used Caldwell and realized it doesn't have a back cinch....after looking on the website it seems a lot of them aren't pictured with even the set up for a back cinch other than the d ring. Can anyone say why? I sent an email to Charon to enquire (and get one in the mail) but thought I'd enquire as to why...cause it seems odd to me

Oh yeah I realize it would be an extra cost but do people actually buy them without it? Or do they fit and ride so well that a lot of people feel that they aren't needed? I guess is what I'm asking. Would be good if that was the case... I'm still getting one anyhow though...

I always have one made when I get a Caldwell. Generally they made their back cinches too dang long though, so I think that's why some forego getting them through Caldwell. I just always tell them to make it smaller because I'm not riding an elephant, LOL.

I always ordered mine without since I could have them made by an excellent saddle maker here to match for less than 1/2 the cost of Caldwell's. The last one I never did get the back cinches made since it didn't fit the horse I bought it for really well and I knew I was going to sell it.

I've had three Caldwells. All had back cinches but none were original except the one I bought brand new and requested a back cinch to go with it....which I paid out the wazoo for....

From what I remember when I ordered mine, Charon said you don't need one if the saddle fits correctly. Also, by the time you take out a mortgage to buy one of their saddles new, you can't afford anything else to go with it. They nickle and dime you to death. All the other saddles I've ordered in the past have all come with back cinches and I wish my caldwell would have, but I couldn't afford to add anything extra to my bill.
