Location: DUMPING CATS AND PIGS IN TEXAS :) | I appreciate the fact that a woman has been used in Peter Pan broadway productions, etc....but, he is supposed to be a young dude and seeing a woman potraying him totally ruins it for me. I can't concentrate on anything else except that a girl is Peter. That is all. |

Peter Pan is usually played by a woman in most productions. Probably because of a woman's smaller size.
Also, it was the norm for men to play women back in the day on stage. |

Location: N Texas | I'm with you!! I remember the first time I watched a Peter Pan production on TV and Peter was played by a girl. I was SO confused! I thought it was weird that a girl was named Peter, because I had always thought that Peter Pan was a boy. When my mom explained it to me, I thought it was really stupid for them to cast a female for that part. There are plenty of talented young male actors, so I honestly don't get why they use women for the part. |

| Watching Peter Pan on TV with Mary Martin playing Peter was my first encounter with gender confusion. I could not figure out why Wendy had the hots for another female. Pf course this was long before they had books about having too moms.......might have made more sense to me if I had read something like that, lol. |

No.... all 4 of the hobbits were men... That would not have worked... They were made to look small by a camera trick called Forced Perspective... The same thing that made Gimli the dwarf look so short even tho he was tallest of the 9 companions. |
