Please tell me what would make you choose one or the other? I own both so I guess I could try both and just see but I was wondering y'alls OPs on which to use? I was just going to ask what reasons would make you put that particular bit on a horse but the horse I'm thinking of is a 3yo (coming 4) filly that is loping the pattern. Been taking very slow. VERY broke to my body, feet and verbal cues. I am currently riding her in a halter...... About 3 months ago she got her head caught in something (we are thinking between a specific tree stump and a post because we found hair) and beat the crap out of her head damaging the nerves in her face and causing paralysis of her lips. She has about 80% of control back in her lips and is only droopy on her right bottom lip now. Vet says that may never go away. Time will tell. Anyways, thoughts?

I have the Jim Warner hack..I needed a short shank, I also use a Lil 'S' bit hack too. I had a mare that had a good whoa, but wanted to save her mouth so I switch over to the hack. I perfer the Lil 'S'really. If you have both try each one and see which one she likes and works the best in.

I thought about acquiring a little S or a beetle(?). I love hackamores personally but I know it really needs to fit horse and rider. I feel like this horse would do anything in any bit/ head gear I put her in. I just don't see the point in a "bit" if its not necessary.

Good post. I've got a horse I'd like to try a hackamore on but couldn't decide which one as well. I just wanted to say though that we had a horse get caught in a gate and damage the nerves. It took awhile but everything did seem to go back to normal. Hopefully yours will too!
