I work in a very tight-nit office, mostly women with a few men.  I would like to give the women something decent this year but don't want to spend a fortune  Last year I made cookies that everyone in the office loves but we have a few ladies that can not eat gluton.  I will probably still make cookies for everyone but wanted to do a little something else.

Any fun ideas?

If they like to wear scarves, Walmart sells infinity scarves that are in a 2/$5 pack.  My mother in law bought them for the ladies in her office.   I think I have them in every color!

I go to bath and body works - buy 3 get 3 free.  Or, if they drink coffee, i buy a mug at the dollar store or goodwill, thrift store and fill it full of different candies.  Or fill with Keurig or similar type coffees.

We each have an office and for some reason housekeeping NEVER brings us toilet paper. They don't clean our offices either, which is ok, but, man, a roll of toilet paper every once in a while would be nice.....sooooooooo, this year, I'm giving everyone a little Christmas bag with a roll of toilet paper in it and I will add so many Hershey's kisses that they won't see the toilet paper until they eat enough kisses lol.

Everyone around here brings treat so a few years ago I bucked that tradition and started making fresh salsa for everyone.  It's pretty cheap to make a big batch and put it in little ziploc or rubbermaid containers and hand out to everyone.  And those that are gluten intolerant can eat it too!

I was at a little crafty type store today and bought some super cute ornaments for several friends. They were under $3. each and I'll put them in a
small bag with a few cookies or some candy and spend under $5 each.

Here is my salsa recipe (and I double the batch for handing out to co-workers so I have enough):

1 large (32 oz.) can crushed tomatoes
1 cup diced vine ripened or roma tomatoes (gutted - I hate tomatoe guts, ironic I know)
2-4 diced jalapenos (depending on how spicy you like it, if you leave the veins in, it will be spicier)
1 medium sweet onion, diced
1 can Rotel tomatoes and green chilies
1-2 cloves garlic, minced
1-2 tsp. cumin (I start with one tsp. and add more if I think it needs more)
1/2 cup cilantro, coursely chopped
1 tsp. course or sea salt
Juice of one lime
Optional - 1/2 cup taco seasoning (my husband makes ours up from a mix of spices but you can use store bought stuff and I like it with and without)
Optional - 1 8 oz can tomato sauce (only add if you want the consistency to be a little thicker)

If you have a food processor you can put everything in all diced and chopped up and pulse a few times to get the consistency you like.  If not, happy dicing (and this is what I do) and chopping.  The longer this sits, the spicier it tends to get but it will last in a sealed container up to two weeks in the fridge.  I like the taste of this right away but if it can sit overnight and let the flavors mix together it's even better.  Let me know how it turns out for you!

I'd make the cookies and also make gluten free cookies.  And please include the guys.  They may  not say much, but everyone likes gifts.

We do secret santa around here and I got a lady on the other shift that I do not know at all. All I know is that she is really scary, loves beer and is probably a borderline alcoholic, and hates the color purple. Is it tacky to get a co-worker a gift certificate to an alcohol store?

At the last place I worked, alcohol was involved in every single secret santa gift....so I would say no!  Also, I worked at a staffing agency, not a liquor company.

Buy her a mirror, nonalcoholic drink, and a purple scarf.  The mirror is of course for her to see the disappointment on her own face.

Before I retired I worked in an investment firm.  Everyone was well paid and probably had everything they ever wanted/needed therefor buying was difficult.    At my suggestion we stopped giving inter-office gifts and instead choose a charity to all contribute to.  It was a different charity every year and ever employee eventually got to pick the cause near & dear to their heart.

Haha that's what I'd like to get her. She also hates the smell of popcorn so one of those giant holiday tins of popcorn would be a fun addition.
