I just bought a Tammy Fischer saddle for Christmas with a medium tree fit and I'm worried that I should've bought a wide tree fit instead. My horse has nice wide loin muscles but his shoulders a little smaller and he has a defined wither (thus decided on ordering the medium instead of a wide). The saddle seems to fit his shoulders and the front part of his back but I'm worried about his 2nd half. Since it is a treeless saddle, will it stretch out a little with more rides and oiling it or will it stay it's shape like a treed saddle? How do you know how to measure your horse for a medium fit vs a wide fit? My horse is a 15.2 cutting bred quarter horse that isn't mutton withered. Other than this concern I am pretty happy with this saddle. Love the close contact feel!!

Not for positive, but I would think you would be fine with the saddle you have, as long as it fitsgood in the withers. I have been riding one for 6 mos., and they really break in a lot more after about 3 weeks of consistent riding

He will be six next year and he is still filling out but lately he hasn't near as much so I'm wondering if he is done growing. Good to hear that the saddle really break in more after consistently riding in them. I don't know how consistent I'll be while I'm pregnant but after July I'm gunna be all over that lol!

I was going to say if he is pretty much done growing, I would break it in and try it. Where he is almost 6 years old I would say he is about done filling out, but he could fill out more still (but not much I wouldn't think they say horses are done growing by 5 or 6 y/o). I'd say break it in, and see how it goes. I don't know what else to say, but good luck!

Did you check the saddle fit without a pad like you do a treed saddle?
I did and it seems like it does down slightly on his shoulders but the back is up about 3/4 of an inch. Idk if it's up because it's not broken in or if it just doesn't fit right. One of these days when the weather isn't bad and I'm not working I'll take a bunch of pictures.
