PLEASE be aware that the Canadian Government has imposed restrictions on the return of these animals to Canada.

This will effect those coming to Denver for the National Western Stock Show next month.

You will need to have a negative VS ELISA test within 14 days of returning to Canada to get back into the country.

This opens quite a can of worms.

If you will be affected by this and need more info- feel free to contact me, and I will connect you.

I have a mare stuck in Colorado. Been waiting for this ban to lift for awhile.

There isn't a ban.... Severy are you in Canada?  If so... You could try having a VSV blood test pulled on the horse.   You will need to have it sent to the NVS lab in Ames Iowa.  If the horse tests negative....you have 14 days to get it into Canada.

i will caution you.... The test that Canada is requiring is an ELISA test.... It basically will show a positive result if the horse HAS EVER  been exposed to Vesicular Stomatitis in its life.....

Post on Northline Angus Facebook page

We want to make you all aware of a VERY IMPORTANT topic that has surfaced in Montana that will potentially affect you as Canadian Show Exhibitors.

The Montana Department of Livestock is looking to make a ruling to the rule for Canadian Cattle entry into Montana. The rule currently reads:
- “There may be exemptions to the CAN Brand for exhibition animals, but these animals must be exported back to Canada or a state that will accept them.”

The ruling will make no exemptions for Canadian Show Cattle entering the State of Montana, unless they are branded with a CAN Brand and meet all other specifications.
There will be a meeting for the Montana Department of Livestock Board, TOMORROW – November 13th, 2014. There is a Brand Inspector in Yellowstone County that has offered to represent the Canadian Exhibitors by reading letters written by you to the Board in defense of the exemption in hopes to overturn the decision.

We will be expressing our thoughts and concerns by written letter and ask you to do the same if this ruling affects you. We will collect and email any letters along with our own if we receive them by 7 am MST November 13, 2014. We ask that you please address all letters to the Montana Board of Livestock with the address below.

Montana Department of Livestock
PO BOX 202001Helena MT 59620-2001

livemail@mt.gov

We hope that you will take a few moments and share your thoughts with the Board – this is a very crucial matter for all Canadian Exhibitors, should you know anyone else planning to attend shows in the United States in the future PLEASE share this email with them and have them send their thoughts as well. It is our hope that the Board will see that the current rule should stand as written. We will keep a close eye on this matter in the coming days and try to share what we hear.
