Hello!
I am wanting to nominate my aunt, Sharon Smith, for the exemption slot for The American but I need your help voting!!!!!! With your help she has made the top ten, THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!!!  Now we have to vote again because the votes start all over!! For those of you who don't know who she is please let me tell you who she is and why she deserves this! Sharon is a five time NFR qualifier, she has lte of over $500,000, she won Calgary, she was the Prairie Circuit Dodge National Finals Rookie of the year, BFA Champion, won Topeka, won Colorado Springs (twice), a round at the NFR, fast time at Houston for a round and numerous other rodeos. Sharon accomplished all of this on her legendary horse and best friend, affectionately known as Bumper (Speed Money). Sharon trained Bumper herself from the very start of his career. Sharon is a full time nurse in the Moore, Oklahoma area and a single full time awesome Mom to her son, Carson. Sharon has once again started and trained a very promising colt that she is starting to win everywhere with. I would love to see her compete on this nephew of Bumper in The American. This pair are something to watch and will give 200% and be a force to be reckoned with if you give them a chance!!! Sharon has had some tough breaks in life no one should have and yet through everything she just picks herself up and tries harder! Thank you for your time and your vote if you decide to. Here is the current link. http://www.rfdtv.com/story/26580579/road-to-the-american-2

FLITASTIC - 2014-12-18 11:21 AM While I fully respect her past NFR qualifications and accomplishments and excitement over the quality of her new prospect, it is my belief that everyone should have to qualify for the American the way it is currently set up. If her current horse is good enough to run with the best at the American they should be able to qualify on their own at any of the many qualifiers across the country?

so you saying that Lindsey sears, amberley snyder, etc.....who were voted in as well....have to be able to go qualify as well?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I like the exemption rule and this sounds like someone I'd vote for. As a single mom on emergency services shift work (being a nurse/firefighter/police officer isn't like being an accountant/waitress/teacher) you can bet your hiney it's hard for her to even get to the qualifiers.

OP - can you edit your post for a current link?

Anyone who knows Sharon is aware of how much she appreciates your votes and belief in her. After losing Bumper in such a horrible tragedy, she lost her next up and coming star to him being hit by a car in front of her house. It has taken her a long time to find another special horse that she believes in and that she is willing to let herself fall totally in love with. Sharon loves her animals more than any person I have ever met and she is so deserving of this chance with this colt. I know everyone has a story and everyone of us love our horses, so we appreciate your vote so much because there are many deserving ladies out there trying to get in I am sure.

That's just hateful.... We're not making up the rules for the exemption.  RFDTV says there will be one, so we're just trying to help someone deserving get in.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and it was not my intention to start a debate or any ugliness. I just know Sharon has a lot of people on here that know her or her story and would graciously give their vote, since someone is going to get voted in anyway. She did not ask me to do this and she actually did not even know I did it until after I had already posted it the first time. Sharon never asks for anything from anyone, I just felt like she deserved this and I know her colt can run with the qualified horses and she needed this gift in her life. If you feel like she is deserving, please take the time to vote, she will not disappoint you, if you don't, then that is fine too and we appreciate everyone's time.

I think its stupid that they put Roy in with the barrel racers.  I'm not quite understanding that.

The reason from what the show Road To the American on RFD-TV explained that this was fan favorite voted in. Didn't matter what discipline. So there will already be an exemption for say saddle bronc, but then if the fans all voted for a saddle bronc rider for the fan favorite then there would be 2. At least I'm pretty sure that's how it works. I could have misunderstood though!

I voted for her! I remember when her horse was injured at the NFR and how heartbreaking that was. I was watching live at one of the casinos. I think they tried to walk him over to the trailer and then they had to move the trailer to him. I can't imagine how terrible she was feeling then. I hope she does awesome with this new horse and wins it all.
