| Hi all! I have a question - do you think buying a horse from the Josey Ranch is a good idea? Or are the horses they have for sale overpriced just because of the Josey name? I'm asking because I'm looking to buy a new horse to do some 4D's and a few amateur rodeos with and I like the idea that they 'match' you to a horse that fits your skill level and riding style, and it seems like they would be a reputable place and not sell something lame or falsely advertised...is this correct? Are there other places like this that I could check out? I'm scared of buying horses from random people online and not knowing if they are lying to me or if the horse is going to work out especially since I have worked hard to save up a good chunk of cash to buy a nice horse with! So that's what's drawing me to the Josey Ranch I guess. Thanks in advance for any input you can give me!  |

| I've known of a couple of people that bought from them and were very happy with their purchases. I don't have any idea about how their horses are priced. I've seen a couple on their website that I was curious about but I really don't like it when ANYONE advertises without a price and don't usually go any further than just looking under those conditions. |

Location: DUMPING CATS AND PIGS IN TEXAS :) | I have never heard a bad thing about them......only good stuff. A young girl that bought a horse from me went to one of their clinics and had nothing but nice things to say about them. She went on to win a saddle and a bunch of other stuff her first year with this mare after attending that clinic. |

Location: Missouri | I looked at about 10 horses from Josey Ranch and all were exceptional. Ty and Lisa were there to help and made the experience nice. I didn't purchase any because I found one elsewhere I clicked with, still have her and we still win. Otherwise Josey horses are priced reasonably and they have a great selection. You may also try Chris Martin. CM barrel hroses. |

| My brother in law bought 3 from them- 2 were great, the third had some pretty major physical issues that were not disclosed, my BIL did not vet. The horse was on consignment, as most are there and they would not take it back. I can't say they misrepresented the horse, they showed it to him and he bought it on the spot and knowing him he probably did not ask a lot of questions.
I do know of two people that wanted MJ's to sell their horse and they refused to take them because of issues the horses had.

| I attended another clinic in Nov. There was an older lady that was a timid rider that was riding one of their horses. She bought the horse and he was a perfect fit for her. Little sucker worked like a champ and went just the right speed for her.
Blaise Bercejay buys most of her horses (if not all of them) from the Joseys. If you do not know Blaise check with someone from Mississippi. I am sure that they know her. She is a World Champion, too---NBHA.
Joseys wants their buyers to be happy, otherwise they would not have much of a market.

I honestly believe they represent the horse to the best of their ability. the first one we bought from there worked amazing at the ranch but when it came down to running her in jackpots she was too much horse for my sister at the time. she was a cool mare. We sent her back to Joseys and ended up trading for another gelding. The people who had the gelding did not disclose he ducked off and he too was one who worked great at the arena. We got him and a few runs in he starts ducking off. I start digging around and find the previous owner online. She was like oh yeah he did that but we didn't know if it was the horse's fault or my daughter's fault. If they would have been honest with the ranch they would have never taken the horse in the first place but... people do what they want. I DO know of horses who they sent back because they just couldn't get them sold. Actually, they wouldn't take one of our horses just because they didn't like his running style on video. I thought it was kind of silly because he was a youth rider's dream. But you can't blame them for not taking a horse they don't think they can market as well as another.

Location: MD | Miss Cheryl and Mr Savoie do a great job of matching horses to riders for the Josey Ranch. I have had clients who have bought from them and I felt that the prices were solid enough. There are some other very good brokers out there, as well. As mentioned, Chris Martin/CM Barrel Horses is great. Munkers Farm, as well. Marne Loosenort has a very broad reach of contacts and can find a horse to suit about anyone's needs. Just be sure to ask all of the questions that concern you and be sure to ask those questions in detail, as you should when dealing with anyone. |

The first horse we bought-I didn't love his running style and ended up selling him. But he was only started when I purchased him from Ty.
The second horse-Ty knew we were looking for a horse and called me out of the blue one day and said he had a horse come in on consignment that he thought I would love. We lived in MN at the time and he sent us a video. We drove down the next day and bought the horse. Ty was very honest about the horse and said he would run the fence on the first barrel every once in awhile (this is what the lady told him that owned the horse). Got the horse home and he ran the fence with me 3 or 4 times that first year. Ty continued to help and coach over the phone by videos. By the next year we had a solid 1D horse at a 3D horse price. That was the best horse I ever owned. Sold him when I moved south and he is continuing to win with his new rider. I would trust Ty very much! |
