Location: Phoenix | That's what this one was.....I'm used to riding in a roping saddle where I can get up and out! So bizarre. Even more bizarre was riding a Foxtrotter!! It was so funny--I couldn't tell if she was trotting or loping!! LOL!!!

Location: Phoenix | Haha my mom is in town visiting and we were going on a Classic Arizona trail ride so I let her ride my horse with my saddle. The guy who owns the place I board at said I could ride his other horse and he only extra saddle he has is his daughters Bob Marshall. I was pleasantly surprised. He found the mare on Criagslist for dirt cheap and retrained her and now she's a heel horse! She's a Foxtrotter and she can FLY...we opened up in the washes and she could GET IT. Pretty fun time I will say! I saw my first rattlesnake since being out here. 3 horses rode by before he woke up (right as I was passing him). I just grabbed the horn and shuffled the 'ol mare forward!! lol good times!!! |

Location: Phoenix | It's definitely something I would borrow before buying. I wouldn't mind having one just laying around. Seems like it would fit a lot of horses. It felt like when I got on that it would slip off, but it didn't. Just felt like it might!! |

I love my Deb Sibley and it rides very similar to a treed saddle just so you know |

Location: Oklahoma | I won't ride in anything but an Original Bob Marshall. That's all I've ridden since 1994 and the majority of the money I've won in my career has been in a Bob Marshall. There's a lot of misinformation out there about them. I was riding them when no one knew what they were, and my first one was one of the plain suede ones, so I got asked a lot. lol When I was rodeoing up north, they REALLY thought it was strange. One thing about them, you either love them or hate them. I'm a lover. lol |

I got mine bc it fit my horse and he was having major issues from my other saddle. I was one of the only girls at rodeos with one when I got it. Now, there are quite a few everywhere I go. A third of the top 15 girls in the association I run in ride a treeless of some form. I just about did a front flip off my horse last weekend but my saddle saved me haha- not that that's why I ride one, but hey-I stayed on and secured the win for the series! |

Location: North Dakota | I love the treeless saddles. I'm a little too heavy to ride in one consistently so I'm sticking to tree'd, but my sister has a Circle Y JBN. We were at our wits end trying to fit her gelding with curves and dips and just a very unique back. The treeless conforms to all that much better than a tree'd saddle. He seems happy in it and is developing a much better topline. |

I must be the weird one who likes it on some horses but doesn't think it is the answer for every horse on the planet. (I have a couple FB friends who are what I call Bob Marshall Disciples......they are convinced that no treed saddle is good enough and if the rest of us knew what was good for us, we'd be in treeless saddles too.) My old gelding loves Matt's Bob Marshalls and I like running him in one because he's a little freer than in a treed saddle, but I'm in no way interested in trying a Bob on Clifford! He is way too sensitive to be allowed to feel everything I do LOL. |

Location: texas | just remember no 2 saddles ride the same....
I have a 1998 bmss, a 2003, and my kids have a 2003....
back in the early 2000's they went to a serial number system and it will be stamped under the chap flap, the older ones such as my 98 have no number, but we ordered it from bob marshall in 1998...
I ordered 3 new ones back about 3 yrs ago and hated all of them, quality and craftsmanship and smoothness wasn't there....
try to find a 2000 model, IMO they are the best, ride like soften butter...... |

Location: In a happy place | Well I will add my story. Years back I had an original Bob Marshall. I really liked it and am sorry I sold it. But I want to tell you my saddle horn is my life line when I am running barrels. I was using it on a big stout gelding and when he left that third barrel that horn bent back to my belly and scared the you know what out of me. I will never forget that feeling. |

Id guess it was the horse not the saddle, ive always found the gated horses to suck me down, just along for the ride lol.
Ive never ridden a foxtrotter though just guessing lol |

| Did the bob Marshalll you rode in have the forward hung stirrups? I ordered one with the forward hung stirrups and I hated every second of that thing!! I could NOT post in it either b/c the stirrups would fly out in front of me when I put pressure in them....hated that saddle so I rode in it about 3-4 times then sold it. I can post perfectly fine in bob marshalls that don't have the forward hung stirrups though!! |

Location: NE Texas | I keep an original BM or two around because there are just some horses it is "magical" on and there are some horses that it is a tragedy on. I have had a few horses that did not like the feel....one of which I raised and I accidentally rode her with a saddle with a broken tree a couple of times before I realized it was broken. She had fallen with me and it broke my tree, I never thought to check because she didn't fall on the saddle at all. After that she was very particular about saddle fit and the movement of the treeless she didn't care for.
I still love them on certain horses but I don't ride them exclusively. |

Location: Phoenix | You know, the one I rode might have had forward hung stirrups. I just accounted it to how free swinging they were! And the gaited horse really sucks you in....it was funny because I'm so used to horses jigging and she literally couldn't!!!! So bizarre. |
