Location: Randolph MN | Help me brainstorm!
I got engaed a week ago, abd we had been dating 7 plus years. We want to get married fall of 2015.
Im looking for rustic venues in southern MN
OR
I may have ceremony and reception on my parents property. The spot there would have no electricity. We would have to line up a generator, tent, and a nice portable restroom.
Just lookibg for tips, pointers or suggestions. Thanks! |

| I just got married in September! We had the ceremony and reception at friends property, we rented a huge tent for the reception, cooked the food ourselves, and built a dance floor. It was very cost effective and there were no rules! Everyone that came said it was the best time they had at a wedding and loved that it was open and felt like a big party cause they weren't stuck in one big room. I made our bouquets and flowers out of burlap and had wild flowers in mason jars for the center pieces. I can try to post some pictures of how it all turned out if you are interested. It was very well worth the planning! |

Location: Idaho | I dont have any venue ideas but i had a very cowboy wedding. My dress was denim and lace. I wore white boots. My bridesmaids has skirts with denim tops and white bottoms. And i bought them matching boots as a gift. My husband wore a denim shirt and jeans and a white hat and the guys wore jeans, white shirts, and black hats. I used whiskey barrels filled with flowers. We got married in a place that looked like a barn and was already kind of decorated. The coolest part of out wedding that everyone was talking about was our unity ceremony. We had a little fire pit out front outside with branding Irons in it. My husband had a cowhide covered roping dummy with real horns. My dad made our irons. My husband Gabe, branded a G, i branded a T and we both branded an R together for our last name. The preacher said something like. I picked all the music. We made pulled pork sandwiches for our reception. Our photographer and cake maker were friends so we got a deal there. It was laid back and fun and very "us". People really enjoyed it and so did we. I didnt stress at all because it was simple. Did it all, venue rental and all for under $2k. |

Location: Where I am happiest | My husbands neice got married last summer outside. It was a western wedding and it was SO CUTE!! They had built an arber and had lace bows tied on it and the poles wrapped with lace. The isle way between the rows of seats they had cut log rounds just sat on the ground and on top of them they used Pendleton Whiskey bottles, tied a lace bow around the neck and they were filled with wild flowers. They looked really nice! The brides mades wore white lacy western skirts, light blue blouses and cowboy boots, carrying wild flowers. The Groom and groomsmen all wore black wranglers, the groom a white western shirt and the groomsmen were in light blue western shirts and all had black cowboy hats. The groom and groomsmen's boutineer were also hand made out of shotgun shells, then had wild flowers comming out the top. They were so cool!! They had friends do a BBQ, the family made all the sides, and hired a band for the dance/party. It was ALOT of fun, very nice and very economical to do. |

Location: Nebraska | we got married outside. Our guests sat on haybales with fabric on top of them so they wouldn't be itchy. We decorated with our saddles, hats, boots, other western things. I bought my dress off ebay for $300 and completely made to fit me. The thing we spent the most on was food, which was still less than $10/plate. We had our reception at the National Guard Camp which was nice because our guests had to have an invite to get in so we didn't have any wedding crashers. We rode a hayrack from the wedding location to the reception which was only like 5 miles away. The only things I regret are not having an expensive photographer (we used a family friend who did it as a hobby and didn't get the artsy, creative shots other people get) and not considering how hot it would be. All the guys had jackets on and it was HOT! |
