I have a 4 year old female Miniature Pincher at my grandma's house. She has been sick for a few weeks now with an awful cough, and medicine has not helped. I was wondering if you can get like a nebulizer to help her breathe better. She starts the fits when she gets worked up. She has been to the vet and the medicine helped a little bit, but she still coughs pretty bad. Anyone know where you can get something like this for a small dog?

Doxycycline is all she's on, but she's been on it for a few weeks and very little improvement. Do they make nebulizers or breathing machines for dogs, or is there one that you can buy without a prescription for people?

They can give intratracheal injections to help... Any discharge from nose or eyes? Fever? I would definitely stay in contact with your vet! Hope she's better soon!

The medicine has fixed everything except the phlymy cough. Her fever is gone and so is the discharge from her eyes. Now she's just depressed because anytime she so much as moves too fast she's in a coughing fit.

I am an emergency vet tech and we do nebulize the patients. Usually it's a mix of saline and an antibiotic that we put in there. We do maintain them on iv fluids to keep the lungs from getting sticky. We generally do an antibiotic based on how they got the pneumonia and steroids only if there is inflammation in the airway.
I know some people who put their pets in a small bathroom and steam the crap out of it and leave the animal in there for a few minutes. I did that with my kitten when she had a uri and my smart self accidentally locked her in there and it took me a good 15 minutes to figure out how to break open the door using a paper clip. Lol. Needless to say my cats congestion cleared away that day! Lol.

Get some oregano oil and give it to her. I used it on my horse when she had a cold. And I used it when I had Pneumonia. The oil will get rid of the junk in her lungs and the cough. Hope the dog gets well.
