Location: TN | Good question - I'd like to know too. Speaking of exercising I think I'll get on the floor and plank right now! I may only last a minute but you gotta start somewhere I guess! lol |

Location: The South | Good question, I'm looking forward to seeing the responses. I've gained 15 pounds since my brain injury last September and I finally feel like I can handle some mild exercise, so I'm excited to get started. I looked up "Booty Barre" workouts on YouTube, I think that's what I'm going to try first. They have the whole workout on there for free! My doctor told me about it, I hadn't heard of it before. |

I love pilates/yoga exercises and do them regularly. I think that you just have to do what works best for you. I do LOTS of core exercise and free weights as well. Jumping rope, walking, and a bit of running. I try to do some sprints a few times a week as well. Videos don't do much for me... although I have a ton of them, lol, I seldom, if ever, use them. Squats for legs and lots of stretching. I'm on a mission to stay fit as I get older and so I have a FB page that I started for me and a few other (experienced) ladies, so we can keep each other motivated. We have about 40 in our group and it helps SO MUCH. Maybe you could get some friends together and start something for yourself. It really helps!
Good luck!

While you are at it go ahead and plank 2 minutes for me. I've got to start somewhere. |

| I found some DVDs called 10 Minute Solution, or something close to that! There are 5 10-minute segments so you can do however many you have time for, and you can set them up in the order you want. Basically it's aerobics, but there are different types like kick-boxing, Latin dance, hip-hop, etc.
I had been slacking, so I enrolled in our junior college's circuit training class to hold me accountable. And then I signed up for a 5K to give me a goal. I mostly run but will bike or do the elliptical to change things up. I follow that up with weight machines, core stengthening, and stretching.
For my birthday I got a Fitbit, and I really like seeing my activity level. I've only had it a little over a week, but it has definitely reminded me to stay active over the holidays when it's easy to be a bum. |

When I started my get fit journey I started out with Jilian's DVD's ... they are good. They will make you sweat and ... you can jump around in them. So there is always a beginner spot, then more advanced spots. You can forward to some of the ab exercises and then go back to other things too. I like how she motivates and encourages but is real about working for the results - I guess she worked for me!
Remember ya'll that it takes time to see results and effort in the kitchen to not sabatoge yourself!! YOU CAN DO IT!!! |

 Midget Lover
Location: Kentucky | I have tried the videos, working out at home, etc. The best advice I can give you is to get a personal trainer for a few weeks. Seriously, they will teach you ALL the right exercises in the correct form.
I was the "cardio queen" where I would jump on the treadmill for hours. Never had a change. I got a personal trainer and she taught me about WEIGHTS! It changed my life! I lost weight, inches, and SAW a huge change in my muscle and balance. After you learn a lot of the exercises and how to use the machines, you can cut loose on your own. |

Location: Where I need to be | I have used popsugar.com for about 2 years. I do 10 minutes of cardio, 10 minutes of yoga and alternate with a little weight training. You can find any kind of exercise on this site and they will lead you through it. I think I am in pretty good condition for a 59 year old woman thanks to this site. |

Location: Kentucky | I like Bodyrock videos! All free, all accessible via their website or youtube all the time. My favorite trainer on there is Lisa Marie who does high intensity interval training, but they have other trainers who teach yoga, weights, beginners classes, even pregnancy classes! If you are just starting out I would recommend Lisa Marie's HiitMax series. They are 15 minute videos but they are very intense. Start at day 1 and do 1 workout per day if you are a beginner... If you are more fit you could do the recommended videos for that day. She also has a "Real Time Challenge" that is 30 days of 45 minute workouts. After finishing that I had visible abs for the first time in my life. My core was so strong that I felt like a completely different rider... I don't think my horse knew what to do about that monkey up on top of her! |

I joined a cross fit gym and love it.
This is a great advice! Joining gym and finding the right program to exercise is the way to go!
Personally, I am very passionate about getting lean body, shrinking core, and getting 6 pack abs.
The best way to get your six pack abs is to start taking advantage of the 'after burn effect' also known as EPOC. The idea is for your body to burn calories 24 x 7 not just when you are in gym. This is achievedthrough short 30 - 40 minute high-intensity workout sessions. If you never heard about the after burn effect just google it - such an insight!
On top of that you need to ensure that:
1) You have a proper workout plan (do lots of compound exercises as opposed to isolated ones)
2) Your diet is appropriate (exclude high calories and sugar)
3) You get enough sleep to recover
Having had an ugly belly for a while, I learnt these concepts only 7 months ago. Since then my body transformed completely. Here is my pics: http://romankorobitsin.com/fitness/six-pack-shortcuts/
The pics were taken a couple of months ago, since then my lower abs got much better.
