| not riding yet, so not saddle issue. I have been lunging her loose in the area (cutting arena like 80X80) for exercise because I didn't see the point in taking the time to saddle just to ride 20 mins lol. I know, lazy... Anywho, she feels like a million bucks since treating for ulcers (and looks it to honestly) and I noticed the muscle on her back/ withers/ shoulders has doubled in size since treating her for ulcers 3 weeks ago. I noticed today after lunging her that her back is slightly sore. Not terribly, but I don't want to get off on the wrong foot getting back at it this year. She has been off several months. In the past her back was sore and no amount of vet or chiropractic work was making her better, then I took her to an acupuncturist (her right shoulder and lower back needed work) and poof! fixed. No problems with her back from that point on- then the injury, then time off, now pulling back up and minorly sore. Do I go back to the acupuncturist? Or look elsewhere?
When she trots/ lopes around the arena she puts her head down, stretches out really good ect. My mom mentioned tonight she looks a little tight in the back end loping so I'm thinking its her lower back again but she is building a ton of muscle in her topline since the GastroGard so could it be that? |

Location: Choctaw, Oklahoma | Might be ovary pain. I've never owned a mare long enough to learn all there is to their issues, but I know sometimes ovaries and such can cause pain in that area for quite a few mares I have dealt with. |

| Is she turned out? What's the ground like? Maybe a slip or fall? Ovaries is a good guess too.
I'm the type to give her a couple days and monitor it before doing anything. |

| thanks y'all. I light bulb went off in my head when ovaries were mentioned. She is bad about getting fluid in her uterus and I have her flushed each spring and that usually lasts a year or more. That's probably it. We have never found why she builds excess fluid, we just fix it when we find it. I feel dumb... I have been going 90mph.
I do turn her out during the day and keep her in a half acre pen with a shed at night. I suppose she could have slipped in the mud or stumbled. We have very bumpy/ small hill-y ground in the pasture.
I'm going to bet its her fluid. Oh well anyways, carry on lol
ETA I will be fixing it lol I just cant until she comes into heat so they can get in there. Hurry up sunshine...

Location: North MS | Has she had a caslick procedure? I don't know if it might help with the fluid if perhaps some irritant is getting in and she builds up fluid in an attempt to flush or something. |

No she hasn't. Thank you for saying that. I'll have to look into that. I'll ask about it. That'd be nice if it was an easy fix like that rather than flushing her every spring. |
