He must have never seen such a sexy beast before and insisted he'd talk that good looking reflection out on a date sooner than later. |

Location: Oklahoma | Could you get some of that fake snow type spray thats made to go on windows and put a light coat on it? Just enough to get the idea that it is solid across. Leave it on for a couple of weeks so maybe they get the hint, but if its not the same birds hanging around, that may not work. Or possibly try to draw them away from the house with a birdfeeder or something. |

Location: on my horse | maybe try shutting curtains or blinds? That's usually what I do when I have a lot of birds hitting the windows, for a couple days my house is pretty dark but it seems like they get the idea that it's solid. |

I also found this link about Cardinals and their mating habits, they do mate and stay together for at least one season, however they will replace a mate that has passed away. |

Location: where ever my L/Q trl is parked | Birds see there reflections and want to protect their territory... you would need to cover the outside of the window panes - pulling your drapes or lowering your blinds won't work. Their reflexions will still be seen. Birds use to fight with my large door mirrors on my truck so I put brown paper bags over them. I eventually made dark material sack with draw strings.. that way if it rain they wouldn't fall apart like the paper. |

Location: Kansas | They occasionally hit our windows and die also, even at work where the windows are heavily tinted. I wouldn't worry about trying to do anything about it. Stuff happens................. |

Location: CTX | I want to know what I can do from birds hitting my windshield..... I have had 3 of them hit me in the last year, oh and a fourth one just decided to dive right in front of me, so my ranchhand grabbed that one..... Either my truck attracts them, or we have a bunch of suicide birds around.... |

Location: The end of the Earth, SE AR | As a bird biologist I get this question and calls about this problem fairly frequently. In the bird world there are no such things as windows or mirrors so birds view windows as not being there and as something they can fly through. They will also see their reflection in the glass and think that the image is actually another bird invading their territory. They will fight this intruder until they are exhausted.
Here is some information that can help prevent birds from striking your windows. And by the way, plastic owls don't work at all, nor do plastic snakes.

Location: The end of the Earth, SE AR | And just so you know, this isn't a little inconsequential problem. Close to a million birds die every year from colliding with windows. And just because you see one get up and fly off doesn't mean it doesn't die of internal injuries later. Sad truths. http://www.allaboutbirds.org/Page.aspx?pid=1184 http://www.birds.cornell.edu/AllAboutBirds/faq/attracting/challenges/window_collisions
