Location: East Tennessee but who knows?! | Fleece onesies and Berne insulated overalls will keep you warm enough to sweat in 4 degrees.
.......on a side note if anyone has ideas for face onesies please share. Not too sure I can handle walking around with frozen snot in my nose for too long.
That is all.....please share with your southern friends that aren't used to anything under 30 degrees! |

Ditto this! ^^^ We live in cold country and my silk wild rags are a lifesaver. There is a reason the true working cowboys in cold country always have their wild rags. |

Location: mi | There are these things us northerns call scarfs. They are basically just a long piece of material (fleece is awesome) that is about 8" wide. we wrap it around our lower face as the very last layer before you go outside. And by lower face I mean anything below the eye balls. Hat down to eye balls. Hood from jacket up and on top of hat. Then scarf over all of that up to your eye balls. You lose alittle hearing and peripheral vision but your face is not hurting. |

I also have a turtle ski mask from back in my competing days ... works lke a charm and you can pull it off while in the barn or slip it back on when out in the wind. AKA - the balaclavas! |

OK...where's the best place I can buy one...I saw a display of them at the USTRC and was kind of laughing, like what guy would wear that, but now I'm all on board if they work...LOL....my sister sent me a scarf last Christmas, but it's too girly for me, so if the real cowboys wore these, they are good enough for me....
Edited to say it was -5 with the wind chill walking to the barn this morning......I'm seriously moving to the San Antonio area when I retire, I can't stand this!!!! I can take the heat, but I can't do cold...

IMHO you can always put on more and better insulating clothes. You can only start take so many off before people start laughing! And calling the police....
That being said, it takes a great deal of effort to go out and do chores, but once I am out there, I really don't mind it most days....once I get in the barn and out of the wind. As kids, we used to ride in just about anything and had a blast doing it. These days I cannot seem to find the intestinal fortitude to go out in this weather horseback. But I also know that I absolutely cannot do 95 degrees and 95% humidity, especially when I see my horses so miserable.
So far I have been putting on a hooded sweatshirt, Carhart jacket, earmuffs and gloves and been comfortable enough in the barn to get chores done.....as long as I am working. I would freeze to death standing still. |

We are NW of San Antonio and it is 40 degrees right now and that is cold for us. Here's a link that Meleta had posted on wild rags. http://lastloopropeart.webs.com/apps/photos/album?albumid=11199946 |
