| I thought when a horse gets him ROM he can have normal/ full AQHA papers? I have a gelding that got his ROM in 2013 that still has appendix papers. Can I just attach a note and mail them in? I found out he got him ROM from the AQHA performance records on the AQHA website.
thanks for the info in advance |

| I believe there is a cost and paperwork to fill out
Since the horse is a gelding I wouldn't spend the money as it doesn't change much.
If I was going to sell the horse then I would investigate to see if it would make a financial difference to apply for regular papers

Ok, I guess I'll call on Monday and see what I need to do. I was just looking at the AQHA website and I couldn't find any forms about it but I am terrible navigating their website.
ETA. There is a chance I will sell him in the future, which is why I was looking into it but I'm not actively trying to sell him at the moment. Thanks for your help though!!

lol idk. Makes me feel better. If its a crazy amount of money then obviously I'll pass but if it's like $10 then heck yeah. I think its cool. I have just never owned an appendix that has earned a ROM. |

| I believe it is $50. Haven'done that in a few years. Plus you have to have the horse inspected by a vet. That can be anywhere from $25 to $200, depends on the vet. I bought a mare that did not have her papers changed until she was 17 years old. Her foals were raced so it didn't make any difference to their owners. It is kind of a waste of money to change a gelding's papers. |

Makes a difference to me. I just like white papers and feel why not honor the horse with them.. Not everyone feels that way, but if I can advance them to Full AQHA I do.. |

Call AQHA and they will tell you exactly what the letter needs to say and the fees involved. I advanced 3 last year. |

This is what I was thinking. I think it would be a nice goal to set. I hope to be able to do it someday with my current gelding if we ever get to running and get together. |

You are correct. All AQHA papers look alike now. No one even sees the papers but you. I bought a gd of Ronas Ryon. She had her racing ROM but her papers had never been changed. I plan to breed her when I quit riding her so I had her papers changed. Nobody knows whether her papers are appendix or permanent registry. Nobody cares.
I have some friends that stand a son of Dash For Perks. I know that they were planning on getting their ROM in barrels but he got hurt and is lucky to be able to walk. They still breed a lot of mares.
