Got a new saddle for Christmas, and I was so happy but I've been feeling like it was a little too small. It's a treeless saddle so I just hoped it would kinda of stretch out but it doesn't. I was doing some research tonight on bars, types of trees, what the difference between a tree that has flat bars and angled bars. I was so excited to be learning all of this until I got the idea of checking the bars on my new saddle. It's only 6 inches! My husband bought the saddle for me as a present but how do I tell him that I was to get rid of it? It's only been ridden in a handful of times (so I can't return it) but its's still pretty clean so I feel like I could get a pretty penny for it but I don't want to hurt my husbands feelings.

Bars are a part of the tree. A treeless saddle probably would not have bars.
This. I'm a little confused. What part did you measure?
Lol you got me there. I measured the part where the bars would be, in my head at least. I measured about 2.5 inches down the top of the black flexible cover that goes right on top the withers. Another spot on the saddle made me a little uneasy, by my horses left shoulder seemed to be a little too snug as well but I was just hoping it would flare out with use.

I think you are smart to ask for advice! Good luck! :)

I don't think you will hurt his feelings if you tell him the truth. Take him with you looking for a new one. Us men think differently than women. We don't get upset about things like this. If I bought a new saddle for my wife and it didn't fit, my thoughts would not be on that exact saddle but that I wanted to get her a saddle that would work for her and make her happy.

The bars run from the front of the saddle to the back of the saddle. Could you have been measuring the gullet? I have no idea what the black part of your saddle is. I do not know much about treeless saddles but since they do not have a tree aren't they supposed to conform to the horse? Thought that was the point.
