I have a mustang/quarter cross and he is 26 now. Got him as a yearling. I used him for anything and everything. Barrels and poles all through middle school and high school rodoe. Went to state finals in poles in high school. He ran in every type of ground and seemed to do even better when it was bad or muddy. Tough as they come and even more hard headed! lol. Tons of spirit, strengh and stamina though.

I have a few friends with them. They run them for fun and practice on them but they won't ever be good enough for them to compete on. My friends have other horses for that. Good horses to have around to just play on and do ranch work on because they require little maintaining but not quick enough strictly for barrels in my opinion.

My friend has a BLM mustang, he isn't a barrel horse, but he is SUPER fast. He just prefers to be a trail horse though, he gets stressed in some situations.
