Location: lexington KY | Personally I love Ashville NC, such a neat area and great cabins. We stayed in Bryson City and it was a great small quaint area. If you like the outdoors it is a great place. We only went to town one day, because the cabin was so nice we just used it to relax, read, hike and enjoy the mountains. The Nantahala Outdoor Center is there for rafting and fun activities. |

| Any cabin service is good pretty much. Most and new and nice...I've never heard anyone even when going for the low price ones have a bad experience. We go for weekend trips there if we don't have a show. We love the loco burro its got a roof top hang out and fire pit. There drinks are on point and the fire keeps you warm even this time of year because they blow heat on you from a few different places while your up there. |

Location: In The Land of Cotton | My only suggestion is to make sure the cabin has a water system. Ours did not and the water was sulphur based and stank when you took a shower or tried to fill up the big tub. |

Location: Southeast Louisiana | We wanted seclusion when we went, too. So, we called the company that we were renting the cabin from and asked them for one where you couldn't see any of the neighbors and they accommodated us. It was really nice! |

Location: Oz, Kansas | Try www.homeaway.com they have lots of cabin rentals that are privately owned. We booked our condo through them when we went to Florida & it was easy & affordable. We drove through the western portion of the smoky mountains & they are beautiful. |

We go to Gatlinburg for a few days every Oct. Always a group. Previous year it was 10 of us, this past year it was 6.
We used to stay in cabins but then someone always has to be the DD. So now we stay right on the Parkway within walking distance of everything. This last trip we stayed at the 4 Seasons Motor Lodge. We always wanted to stay there because of the courtyard facing ghe parkway. Big mistake. That hotel is a dump.
We are booked this Oct for The Clarion. But, they are building a new marriott downtown and if it's open by then we will stay there.
We love the mountains just a getaway for some R&R. We really don't do anything there but eat and drink. Heavy on the drink part. |

| I've stayed in Leatherwood several times and it is beautiful. Most of the homes are secluded, you can get a house for anywhere from 2 - 12 people and as bare bones as you want, or as fancy as saunas, hot tubs, entertainment tables, etc. Beautiful place! It is VERY well off the beaten path, you're about 30-45 minutes from a restaurant to eat, or entertainment. If you're going to hide out in and stay in the house, it's perfect. If you want to sight-see, not so much. However, Blowing Rock is about 45 minutes from there, and is a super cute town, great restaurants, beautiful scenery. We go up to the mountains every fall and always go to the Boone/Blowing Rock area. Highly recommend it! |

Leatherwood is a horse community, too. They have lots of riding trails & a barn down at the main offices. A few of the houses even have barns, but I'm not sure if those are rented out. |

| You can rent the houses that have barns/stalls/pastures. We've always taken too many horses/people to fit in one of those, so end up renting stalls and paddocks and just having to drive down to the barn to feed.
Just wanted to add in case anyone else wanted to know... you can take your own horses and keep them there, they have camp sites you can rent and camp in the trailer/tent, you don't have to get a house/cabin, or you can just rent their horses if you wanted, or go without horses. |

I agree with this! We live about 10 mins from Leatherwood and it is beautiful. You can rent stalls at Leatherwood for your horses. Some of the houses with horse facilities you can rent also. Boone and Blowing Rock are bit touristic areas with lots to do. You also have Grandfather Mountain which you can drive up and walk across the swinging bridge. The BlueRidge Parkway is close by. You have the Horn In The West Daniel Boone play in Boone-end of summer. Lots to do and secluded at the same time! Leatherwood has a restaurant on site also with good food!

Location: OH | When I was a kid we used to go there and ride horses up on Mount La Conte and spend the night in cabins---great memories. I do not think that you can ride horses up any more because of insurance reasons but I do believe you can hike up. |
