| I am hosting a clinic this summer and just wanted to hear how others have put together the clinics.
My biggest question is how you determined the cost.
I need to set a price that will cover all expenses, but I want people to also participate and don't want to set a price that is too high. Figured it never hurts to get ideas from others that have already put on clinics.
Thanks! |

| I haven't hosted- But I have attended his clinics, and they're AWESOME. I think the best way to determine the cost should be based off of how many people you want to attend. The less people, the more one on one time you get, then the higher it ould cost, and vice vesa- more people then it should cost less. Just my two cents. |

Location: In my own little world | I haven't hosted an Ed Wright but have hosted some others. I take the price that the clinician charges plus the cost of the facility and any other costs. I then divide that out evenly between how many students I am going to accept. (I prefer to have a smaller number so there is no one who can say they didn't get enough riding time.). I like 12 student clinics. Then I will take the cost of one more additional student and divide that cost among all students. That additional student is me. By doing it this way the other students are paying my tuition in lieu of me taking all the risks and and work of organizing and hosting the clinic. My goal is not to make money or lose money, just be able to ride with the clinician. |

Location: Tulsa, Ok | I have not hosted a clinic but I have been to several. One I was very annoyed with because the price for non-riding observers was extremely cheap and their was no limit on the numbers. This caused an issue because this attracted a lot of observers who asked so many questions and monopolized so much time that it bit into the time that should have been alloted to the actual riding/paying participants. I will not attend another where this situation exists, even though I go back to Ed's clinics at least every couple of years. |

| I don't look to charge anything close to $650, just want to make sure all expenses are covered. My only hope is to get a spot for my husband and I to participate or watch.
That is the goal at least. Thanks for all the PMs. I have a few to get back to...will do that tomorrow, kind of on the run at the moment. |

It's going to vary depending on how many people per clinic, the facility, the demand etc.
I googled it, that price is not out of the norm. |

| He has a set price that he charges....then from there he leaves it to the host to determine what to charge as far as hotel, plane ticket, arena, and rental car if needed may cost.

Location: Oklahoma | Just curious.... How good of shape does your horse have to be for these clinics? I'm looking at going to one in a few months but my gelding will probably only be about 6 weeks into reconditioning! |

I did go to their clinic. I love the Doughman's. They are the very reason I am putting a clinic on down here in my parts.
Without them I would not have been introduced to Ed! I had such a great experience, and learned so much I figured why not host one as well? Maybe I will get lucky and they will put one on so I can attend two in one year. |

You will be fine. There is not a lot of "running" most of it is slow work and there is enough time in between you and your next turn. My mare has had a month and a half off. I will have only been back on her a month and she will be fine! |

He does have a set price, you then have to figure in the arena fee, plane ticket, hotel, and rental car. I also try to make enough that I can ride for free. It wouldnt be worth it if I didnt get to ride... |

If I charged that much, I would not get anybody to come. And I would be making a ton of money, even with 15 riders.. Glad I dont live where the cost is that much. I could never afford that :( |

Make sure that one of you at least gets to ride. It is a lot of work to just watch and not be able to have him help you with your own horse.. |

I have been to 3 and I think I paid $600 for two days but there was usually around 10 people. Actually the first one I went to was put on by different people/place and they had a lot more people. It was years ago so I dont remember what it cost. Its definitely worth the $600 and I got a lot of time to work with Ed one on one with only about 10 people riding. |
