Location: Oklahoma | Any reccomendations? My gelding has been off since the middle of September for a suspensory injury and I got the go ahead to start legging him back up in the middle of December, but he was diagnosed with EPM and the vet wants me to stay off him until we can do his re-test in five weeks. Assuming that all goes well (fingers crossed!) and I get the go ahead to get him legged back up I am looking into sending him off to do some aquatred theraphy.
I've been reccommended the Bylers in Bellville, but it's a six and half hour drive and I want to be able to go and check on him and see how he's doing with my own eyes... I'm not saying that I'm ruling them out.... I'm just curious if there are others that come highly reccommended.
Has anyone used Tom McCutcheon's rehab facilities?? It's a much closer drive for me than Bellville would be.
I see that Oklahoma Equine Hospital in Washington, Ok has a HydroHorse... are those similar to the Aquatreds?? Honestly, I'd like to keep from going to a vet rehab facility if at all possible... I don't want to put him in a compromising situation by being around other sick horses with his immune system. |

Location: Do I hear Banjos? | Cold River Equine is fantastic. It is located in Cresson, Tx (Near Weatherford) I don't know if that is too far a drive for you. But I trust Melissa Neal. She has the Aqua Tred and a Eurociser. The combo can be really great.
I am picky...and I absolutely trust Mel.

Thanks! Looks like Cresson is about 3:45 away. That's doable! I'll look into them. |

Location: Texas | I would have to say if you were looking I to Kimmi Byler Vs Cold River..... I would choose Kimmi Byler hands down. I have had my horse at both and Kimmi did a much better job at rehabbing him and getting him back in shape. I can also recommend equi fitness in bryan. They have both the pool and aquatred there if you wanted to change it up on different days |

Wow, been looking at their facebook and I'm impressed with the client list thus far. Whitesboro isn't a bad drive at all. I'll add them to potential list! |

Location: God's country...aka TEXAS | I also vote for Kimmi. I am good friends with her and she does an awesome job. Every horse is treated like an NFR horse (which a lot of them are that go there). You will not be disappointed. She will send you pics and videos and updates whenever you want. |

For the most part. He really needs to gain muscle along his topline, but I'm afraid swimming would hollow his back out more. Not speaking from experience, just what I've heard. |

Location: God's country...aka TEXAS | Swimming will not hollow out the back. It will definitely fill in topline and build back muscle like you have never seen. You won't recognize your horse after a couple weeks of swimming...lol |

Thanks!! I've never done either, so I'm not knowledgeable. Do the Bylers only have a pool and no Aquatred? |

Correct- they only have a pool. Call Kimmi and ask all the questions you want. Even if you don't go there, she is happy to help you do whats best for your horse. |

From what I understand, Bowie Equine isn't accepting new clients. I guess they've had a few problems with people and are only allowing established clients back to the facility. |
