I don't know if it's "diaper rash" or just plain chaffing. His stools are ideal looking, and he really doesn't want me messing with it(not that I really want to in the first place.) It's too cold to get in there and scrub it up and baby powder it..... sooo any suggestions on what to give him for some relief? I googled and got A&D ointment and Desitin and I really don't know what those are or where to find them.
I figured I'd ask before I go on a hunt for these things and do some trial and error.

Desitin is in the baby aisle usually as it's a diaper rash cream.
Question is WHY is he rubbing? May be worms...or maybe he needs his sheath cleaned/de-beaned?
it's right in between the butt cheeks. his tail isn't rubbed or raw, it's just right in that crease there. I would think maybe he had a spout of the runs but he's got no evidence of it and while cleaning his stalls his stools are balls but firm, not too hard. I don't really have any idea what's going on back there.

One of my geldings had the same thing a few months ago. I couldn't see what was causing it until I watched him back up to a tree and rub between his cheeks. I dewormed him (he was due anyway), and gave his willie a thorough wash. I applied the desitin cream every day for a few days. he quit rubbing and it went away and hasn't come back. Don't know what actually fixed it...but he quit.
