Location: Henryetta, OK | It is that time of the year. People are looking for clinics to attend.
If this is you consider the Connie Combs Clinic at Lightning B arena in Beggs, OK March 14 & 15, 2015. Limit 20 students.
Connie has dedicated her life to helping horses and people reach their potential. She is easy to talk to and her methods are so easy to learn and follow. So if you are wanting to start a colt on the pattern, ended last season with a problem or you are needing to establish trust between you and your horse this is the clinic for you.
For more info look on the Events page of BHW. |

I want more info. I just looked at her website. I want to pay my deposit ASAP. I do have a few questions though. I work at an equine vet and we get crazy busy during breeding season so what if I pay and cant go :( also, I currently (praise the Lord) have 2 barrel horses that are sound. Is it possible to ride more than 1 horse? When is the rest of the $ needed by?
Thanks!!!!!!!!
ETA- would it be better to bring a seasoned horse or a horse that is learning?

Location: Henryetta, OK | I just sent you a private message to answer all your questions.
But to answer them here. Yes you can bring two horses. It is a lot of work but very doable. You will go first and then change horses and go last. Stay on that one and go first and then change horses again. That is the best way to do it.
As far as what horse to bring. Seasoned horses are brought all the time because the person is trying to shave those last few tenths off to move up higher in the D's. A young horse that is just trotting or loping a pattern is an excellent horse to bring to really finish that foundation and start adding the speed.

| my deposit went out today! I'm so excited!!!!!!!
PS- you can reserve 1 stall only for me, I have decided its not worth taking the younger horse, I don't think he will be far enough along to make playing musical horses worth it LOL.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! |

Location: Henryetta, OK | Need some more students for this clinic. It is an excellent facility. We have an indoor and outdoor arena. Great concession area with super food. Been having it there for 14 yrs.
This clinic always fills so get your deposit of $75 Cost is only $275.
Don't let this be you this summer. Connie is the best instructor whether you are just starting a horse, needing to shave a few seconds or needing to overcome an obstacle you or your horse is facing.

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | I have a question. Does Connie teach the horsemanship part or is it still done by a helper? I went to a clinic several years ago and really enjoyed working with Connie, she helped fix my mare's 3rd barrel and I have used her method to help horses having trouble with their footwork, but was disappointed in the lack of instruction by the helper in the horsemanship part. IMO, that's just as important as the pattern work. |

I've been to numerous Connie clinics and she's never had anyone but her teach the clinic. How long ago did you go? |

Location: Henryetta, OK | I have taught the horsemanship part of the clinic for years. I have been riding with Connie since the 80's. I basically teach hands, how to hold your hands going into a barrel and leaving a barrel. I also teach front forehand turns, side pass, stop straight, backing. It is all slow work so you are prepared to go straight to the barrel pattern with Connie.
Connie now has an assistant but I do not know if she will be attending the clinic or not.
