Hey all, I have a friend that has a custom saddlery, and is interested in making tack to target the barrel racing crowd. He's asked me to design some headstalls, breast collars, bronc halters, etc to help him get his product out there and start drawing in some custom orders.

Soo what are your favorite designs, trends, etc that get noticed? My style is pretty low key, so I'm not sure what's in these days. I appreciate your input!

I love beaded tack sets with just a little silver- like a discrete buckle set. Also love rawhide braided tack. But you just can't go wrong with high quality welll made plain leather, either.

Love beaded! I'd say some fringe is coming back. A little bit of bling but not excessive like we have seen in the past

I love the beaded tack for sure. but my favorite is braided rawhide. I think it looks very classy and is neutral for putting on fun polos and colors!

I really like the tack sets with colored stones... Like western dove type things.

I also really like acid washed cowhide.... Never thought that I'd say that, but my Luan's Leahers set has it (with bling on top) and it's gorgeous!

I like the beads when done right, if not it can be tacky looking. I also don't think there is enough bling....ever....I love Heritage brand stuff with the stones stamped all over. I also like a very well made headstall with tooling and a little silver. I find it so hard to choose when I try to order something. I change my mind 18 thousand times

Look up Joe Wamsley on Facebook. He's out of North Dakota. He made my chaps when I was Miss Rodeo South Dakota. They had hand dyed leather "feathers" along the edges to mix in with the fringe.

If someone can tell me how the heck to post a pic, I'll post one!

I like buckstitch, metal studs, rhinestones and metalic dyes.   I am not a fan of obnoiously bright colors or really big bingy stuff.

I really like the dark stain cutting horse/ reigning tack. Silver studs with the old star conchos. That or the beaded tack when done right is really pretty as well.

I really like the hand carved, two tone dye, or antiqued dye with occasional rhinestone set into the carving (leaf, flower, etc)

Bling my ride has one on their website/Facebook page it also has buck stitching on it as well.

Heritage brand any of their masterpieces are beautiful

One recommendation I have is if they are one eared bridles, see if he can put a throat latch on

Quality workmanship and quality leather are huge points for me

I'm kind of just plain and simple.  The most I will go is braided rawhide.  I don't like gaudy things.

I think I've toned down a bit from when I was a teenager. My favorite thing is BLACK leather! I like the fringe. I may be the only person still on the animal print parade but I love me some leopard.

Love the painted feathers

I have painted feathers on one of my halters I designed. I have gotten tons and tons of complements on it. One lady even tried to buy it off my horse at a show once. I think feathers wings and crosses will always be in style. I LOVE bling though. I'm an excessive blinger. But I think nice carved leather with buckstitching or dots looks great too. Painted leather and beading is starting to grow on me but not a favorite yet.
