The only thing that ever comforts me in these situations is to honor these great animals by remembering the great times with them and making a choice to be thankful they were in our lives to begin with. I'm so sorry, big hugs to you right now! I hope that you can choose to remember the greatness that this horse brought you and smile that you were able to have those moments with her. |

I lost my first horse 16 years ago and my second mare 8, and to this day when I pull out of the driveway with the horse trailer I honk to them as a way to ask them to watch over us and then I honk to say thank you when we pull in. Its comforting now, knowing that Ginger & Rio watches over us. |

| I am so sorry it hurts so much to lose them. I lost my favorite mare 3 yrs ago I sometimes still look to the broodmare pasture and expect to see her. She is buried by my studs pen next to our hay stacks I always give her a hello Mercy when I am out there. |

| I am so so sorry for your loss. I lost my best buddy back in September and for a few weeks considered getting out of horses because it hurt so bad to see them standing there without him. My other horses also spent that first day calling for him, which ripped me to pieces. As the days go on, it does get a little easier to go on, but the pain is always there. She was obviously very loved and you both were lucky to have each other. Hugs to you! |

Location: Minnesota | Thank you all for the prayers, hugs and sharing your own stories.
My vet clinic was very helpful, they arranged to have Jetta picked up and her vet even called me and talk with me. When the man got here he was very sincere and talked with me for awhile. He explained what he was going to do and even hugged me. He shared how he just lost his 30 year old horse as well. He even bent down and rubbed Jetta's face and told her she was a very pretty girl. Whether he does this with everyone or not, it made me feel better, if better is even the right word.
I'm still in shock that she's really gone. My attention is now on Vinny. He's clearly shaken up and not himself.
