| Alright I Need some really creative gun dog names for our female chocolate lab. She'll be here next week and we are stumped. I have given hubby 40 names probably and he isn't in to any of them. As of this am, he wants to call her Primer (some part of a gun apparently) and I HATE IT. So can you all help me help him find a "hunting, gun, bow, cool" but somewhat girly name for this poor pup? You guys always rock at this, so pleeeease help!! |

Yep, Remi was a choice of mine, but all his friends apparently cornered the market on the best names! Those "taken" include Birdie Stella Remi Drake - male but still Piper you get the idea... I loved Paris and Prim but so far no dice on those two. |

| Do you have any pictures of her? Pictures always help when naming. I kind of like Primer - it's the little round thing in the end of a shotgun shell - the firing pin hits this and that is what causes the powder in the shells to ignite and then shoot the shot out of the hull. But since you hate it here are my suggestions. Good luck! Sassy Dolly Katera (this is from a style of bow that is made by Hoyt) Sure Shot Tag Dually Digger Skeeter (long for Skeet!) Trapper Sorry, that's all I can come up with for now. :) |

thank you! If a bunch of you girls tell me Primer is actually cute ...maybe I'll warm up to it. ( I would then call her Prim for short) lol!! Originally I was like "Primer? What! that isn't even a name?" but maybe I'm being to harsh on it. Other ideas are welcome...along with thoughts on Primer. |

Location: Do I hear Banjos? | Primer is kinda masculine sounding. but not bad really.
Suggestions:
Benelli (Really nice model of gun...classy name for a female hunting dog)
Willow (like the water reeds they make the duck calls with)
Susie (slang name for a mallard hen)
Edited to add that if you haven't googled it...a primer is the part of a bullet/slug that when hit by the hammer it produces the heat that ignites the powder charge and allows the projectile to be propelled out of the barrel.

| Mossy was literally the last word I yelled as I left for work this am. LOL. I said what kind of gun do you use and he said mossberger or whatever (obviously hunting is not my pasttime..) and I said "well how about Mossy then - way better than Primer!" :) I'm not winning any wife of the day award. |

| Oh, I love Tikka, never even thought of that. Our girl red heeler was named Trapper and our girl Border Collie is Badger which I think of as being "neutral" names. I know someone with two black labs called Smith and Wesson but I am not too fond of that. There is Reed for the reed on a duck call and well, our newest bird dog we named Si after Uncle Si in Duck Dynasty - seriously it fits the dog's personality. :) So you could name this one after one of the ladies - Sadie, Korie, Missy, Kay. LOL. But I love Tikka and I am fond of Primer, I'd have never come up with that. As for gun names - Remington, Ruger, Luger, Browning, Benelli, Mossberg, Zoli, etc. Browning makes a model called Citori and you could call her Tori for short. Caesar Guerini Arms makes shotguns for women under the Syren brand - Syren would be a pretty girl dog's name. More shotguns - Perazzi, Beretta, Kreighoff, Weatherby, Winchester, Dakota, Kimber. There has to be something in that list that will work. Hehe! Now we want pictures of this dog! |

Thank you! Yes, that is quite a list! I kind of like Tikka too :) I will see if I can figure out how to get her little mug up here. I am partial to my boxer and other bully type breeds but I have a feeling she will worm her way right into my heart. |

Benelli...Nelli for short.
I was going to suggest Benelli or Kimber. Kimber isn't a hunting word/name but it is the name of a high dollar hand gun. I have a daughter of Shoot Yeah, I call her Kimber. |

I have co-worker who names his English spainel Kimber. It's a pretty cool name I think. |

| Stay tuned... Honestly, I am so skeptical about this whole deal. The trip to go get these dogs is pushed back 10 days because of some issues on the breeders end. I wish hubby would tell his buddy he's out and find a closer breeder so that we could SEE the pup in person(AND the Breeders) before committing to a 20 hour one way trip. IF she exists and IF she ever makes it here, I trust your list of names will come in very handy! He liked a lot of them and so did I --- at the moment he likes the name Beebe. I love Tikka and Benelli and Kimber!! |

traveling 20 hours one way for a pup?! Wow! There aren't any good breeders closer? We traveled about 3 hours one way for our lab and I thought that wasn't too bad but 20 hours is crazy to me lol
about the name...wait until you meet her. Somethig will pop in your head or she will name her self soon enough ;) our lab is Boone. |

*I will go on record as to say I (THE WIFE) think this is in insane trip to take for a puppy but this is hubby's and his friends deal, and I guess this wasn't a battle I was going to win ;) |

Remember two things: 1) Trust me this bird dog will cost more than you think and I know because we have two of them so my husband can no longer complain about the cost of my horses, and 2) You can't put a price on a good time. Hehehe! Have a fun road trip! |
