Location: Wonderful Wyoming | Anything but hot. Mine actually were very mellow, almost too much. I liked it on certain horses, not at all on others so I switched. Feeding ADM feeds now and couldn't be happier. No more than 2# a day, it is a clean smelling feed, excellent ingredients. |

| I quit using total equine had a mare get too much calcium build up in kidneys. Been over a year trying get her,back right I will NEVER feed total equine again! I had others wouldn't keep weight on
I had others say it got their horses hot mine didn't

Location: Oklahoma & Texas | My feeling with that feed is why not just feed Alfalfa hay if you want alfalfa based diet..igot a couple bags with a broodmare i bought she had been on it but It wasn't keeping weight on her and she didnt seem to like it...i put a couple handfuls of ultium growth in it at first and she'd sling all the TE out and just eat the ultium...so I switched her to wwhat I was already feeding..i wanted to check the TE out but none of my horses would eat it. I think it works for some horses obviously it's popular to feed but not for me. |

Location: Texas Baby!! | I have never fed it but myself am not a fan of it! Some friends of mine feed it and they swear by it, but their horses also have horrible feet and I think some of that is the feed lacking in nutirents. I also am not a fan of the ratios of protein:fat, but some people swear by it! But the people I see feed it also feed a lot of supplments and I think that is a cue in my mind! |

| Gelding turned into a basket case on this product. Quickly stopped using and tossed the rest. |

Location: between here and there | I feed it and get along fine. I do not feed additional supplements and have had them on it for a year and a half. I have a broodmare, a coming 2 y/o and a 9 y/o gelding. All hold weight fine and have good feet. If I wasn't satisfied with any of the results, tho, I wouldn't hesitate to switch! I think like any feed you have to have good hay/pasture first and foremost. |

I agree but I guess my hesitation with straight alfalfa is the blister beetle that can kill them so quickly. It freaks me out. And in my simple little mind, I think if it is processed it is safer but I also know that there are no guarantees. |

Location: East Tennessee but who knows?! | My barrel horse has been on it for several years. I've tried to put him on other feeds for energy because he was so laid back but every time his feet have fallen apart-- that's even with hoof supplements and kelp.
So, no mine doesn't get hot on it. Mine does get hot on beet pulp or Strategy though. |

The chemical agent Cantharidin is what makes blister beetles so dangerous to horses. It is not denatured by feed processing, so horse owners are right to be concerned with feed that uses alfalfa that is grown in areas where the beetle is know to be found. Early cut alfalfa, before the bloom that attracts the beetle, is safer. Still, If I were using a feed that has alfalfa meal as a component, I would sure want to know where that alfalfa meal originated. I have seen horses go down from this, and it is a terrible way for a horse to die. I would not trust anyone who told me that the process of making their feed eliminated cantharidin if it were present in alfalfa that they used. |

Location: floating down a river | I'm very happy with it. Haven't had one get hot on it. I do not feed other supplements(just Lubrisyn to the two old guys) and ours feet grow like crazy now. |

| We used to feed strategy to our 9 yr old QH gelding who isn't necessarily skinny but his top line needed a lot of work...started feeding Total Equine and he looks sooooo good now! He's pretty mellow so I havent noticed a change in his personality at all |

Like any other feed/program. What works for one...may not for another.
I have my older gelding on the Total Equine and he looks MUCH better than he has when on other senior feeds. The extruded diet is easier for him to digest and he gets more nutrition. I'm really liking this feed and have for the past 6 months. |
