Severe Fibrotic Myopathy

Cactus Flower Posts: 1188 Location: Arizona	I've seen some previous posts about people having success treating / managing fibrotic myopathy, but they didn't seem like very severe cases. I have a mare who tore her hamstring badly a few years ago and developed fibrotic myopathy. She still gets around fine and does lots of running, bucking, and playing in the pasture. However, the scar tissue drastically affects her at all gaits, especially in smaller circles. Also, she has a difficult time picking up and maining her left lead. Has anyone had any success in treating fibrotic myopathy as severe as this? I don't have any video, but I'll attach a picture to show the extent of the injury. You get what you give Posts: 13030 Location: Texas	My best horse has fibrotic myopathy. Not sure how she got it. You can really see it on hard ground but not as much on arena dirt or grass. My vet suggested increasing my long trotting with her. She doesn't have any atrophy like your horse does. There's also a surgery they can do to clip the insertion of the semi's onto the tibia. I am not seeing a decrease in her performance at this point so I'm not going to do anything drastic unless I have to. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6KoXjpJP3w
