Location: Kentucky | I was just emailed the results of the Pathogenes test. My vet was also copied on the email, but he is out on an emergency call so I am awaiting his response. Naturally, I am curious to see what the heck all these numbers mean. Can anyone help? I have reached out to resident experience Diane Guinn as well.
SAG 1 - 4
SAG 5 - 2
SAG 6 - 2
CRP - 0
Orogin for 10 days was recommended, to determine treatment response. Does this mean she was EPM "negative"? |

Location: Oklahoma | I wish I could help out, but I am going to follow this as I haven't gotten a copy of my test results (I will get one when we go to re-test). I'm curious to know what it all means. I will say that if you don't mind spending the money I'd go ahead and do a round of Orogin. I started doing the Orogin and Forco around the same time and my gelding has already gained some of his topline back. I'm not sure which to credit, but I won't discredit either right now! |

Location: Beggs, OK | Low doesn't mean anything though. I've seen horses that were flared up and obviously neurological that were 2's on all three titers. If they recommend treatment, it's best to treat. CRP is related to inflammation. 0 is a good thing. |

Location: Texas | mine was a 16 on their titer.
Like previously said, every horse is different and titers don't tell you everything. in fact, they don't tell a lot. The horse may be early in infection so an immune response is just starting to develop. It may be late in infection and the immune response is winding down. It may just have a low immune response to an infection. Or it may not have much going on.
If you treat with Oroquin and do bloodwork again you can see if your titer is going up, down, or the same. |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | I would call and talk to the lady vet there. I can't remember her name, but she made it all make sense for me. I'm awaiting the results of my last blood test after having him on Neuroquel. He is the same as before so I gave up on him and kicked him to pasture. His SAG titers were all 2 and his CRP was a 22 which showed he had inflammation somewhere, but they didn't think EPM. She was so hopeful I should see results in 4-5 days after starting the 14 day pills that I could ride him. Well he never changed how he was standing or short stepping so I am afraid it is a soft tissue injury that either needs more healing or he is just done. |

Location: Kentucky | This mare has two symptoms - flight/spookiness and her back legs will slide out from beneath her during a lope.
I'm going to treat her and hopefully that will help her. I've heard such good things about their tests and treatments, so I'm going to go for it. |

You are doing the right thing. EPM is a very off thing and does whetever it wants to. My mare didn't show any nurological symptoms, just weight loss and her titer were at 64.... At least you are ruling a few things out that way. |

| My horse was sag1 was a 2 /// sag 5 was a 2 /// sag 6 was a 4 gate score was a 2. we treated. I had spent thousands between 5 / 8,000. vet just never did a nero exam, carried to a different vet didma nero could not even stand up on one leg and my faried came to do him thenweek before and said same thing. That vet did a blood test from uc davis came back neg. He them backpedal on those nero test and then i went on this board and internet. Since i am from virginia there where a bunch of post chronicle of horse its a magazine from here a lot of hunter/jumper read this and they have a blog and lot of people had gone to same vets and same experiance. They where also talking about horses not just quite right in the rear. The day we did nero test t tye vet, when i went to load him, i jumped up in trailer and he pushed off to get in trailer he fell in the trailer. From that day i decided that i could not ride him until i got him fixed. He just did not want to,go forward and he would only ride in my bob marshall. he also acted like he was thirty years old hust the last horse to come in he always hated to be last horse in the stall, got where he did not care. also last winter he had no top line just looked bad, this is a pretty horse that is a pretty mover big 16h thicker looks like a warmblood type horse looked upside down. 3 weeks after treatment he looked like i had been working him he had muscles and topline. He has had the winter off as i have had a chronic sinus infection that has blown my asthma completly up and we also had nasty weather. But i watch him walk out every day he doesnot dag his feet and his rear shoes have been on a little too long no toe wear. I am getting ready to take him for a tune up to see how he does. He is a really nice horse, it has been a shame. |
