This new horse I have is really nice. Runs a good pattern and everything but when he runs out he picks up speed. I have tried some different bits but don't want to scare him. Was thinking he might be sore in hocks. Any suggestions I would appreciate it. thanks

It's always good to rule out pain.

I immediately stop and loosen my cinch and maybe even give one a treat as soon as they get stopped. That gives them a specific place to stop every time so they know where to, and a reason to stop.

I do a lot of work on whoa too like stopping and backing up every time I ride. I make sure my cues are extremely consistent as they learn by repetition.
