Location: California | Ive given my marriage more than two hard attempts at fixing what is no longer salvagable . The lies , betrayel and cruel words are beyond what I can tolerate. I am emotionally exhausted and beyond hopeless in my current situation. Sitting here in this dark room knowing someone who has become my enemy with no care is breaking me down.
I am leaving tomorrow and loading up my dogs and clothes and heading back to California to my Dads. I have no hope here and have to do what hurts but what I know I have to. I wish that reminding myself of all the emotional abuse and verbal lashings would make things easier but it doesn't hurt any less.
I am fearing this 18 hour drive alone . I am sad my dogs have to endure another trip like this . I am upset I ever came back when I escaped last time. My heart hurts . My head hurts. I know I need sleep to make this trip but my eyes won't shut.
Please give me the strength to do what is best for myself . I will check in when I get a hotel halfway. I need a support system right now. I feel so alone.

Many of us have been in the same place and gotten through it. You will get past this and it will be only a memory one day. I remember leaving with nothing but my two little ones (3 and 5) and a few trash bags full of clothes. I literally had NO WHERE to go. But I got out of there and met an awesome man and we have been married for 23 years. First thing I did when I got out of there... Fixed my picker, ;).
Just trust that God has a plan and that He will see you through. Be grateful that you have someone to turn to and a place to go. That's a lot of positives!

Location: Oklahoma & Texas | You went back because you are tough and you thought you could fix things...nothing wrong with trying but also nothing wrong with cutting your losses and moving on....best quote..."Some people believe that holding on and hanging in there are signs of great strength...however there are times that it takes much more strength to know when to let go and then do it.".... i think you know it's time...you certainly deserve so much better ...no one deserves to be emotionally or physically abused and you certainly don't want to waste 1 more day with him...it can only get better and there is someone out there who will treat you like a queen and with respect . I agree!!! you went back because we women always feel we can "fix" it.. I did this for many years to girlie.. they never change..
Next time you think about going back to him call your dad or come here.. and read the other threads to remind you he wont change. be safe, give the dogs a hug and you can do this. |

I'm sorry, and please try not to be offended, but I HATE this attitude. No, you will never understand the mental he'll of being in the cycle of abuse unless you have been there. It's not as simple as being strong enough to walk away. It's a black hole that sucks your soul right out of you and changes who you are as a person.
Good luck. I don't know if this will be the last time you leave but I don't hope you don't go back. I DO know you are strong enough even if you don't know right now.

| I was where you are 25 years ago......I went back several times before I finally found the strength to never look back. The most important thing to remember is you HAVE to break the cycle. Some woman never do. They either continue to go back until there is a tragedy or they continue to choose the same type of man. I can promise you...there is a life waiting for you on the otherside of this darkness.....there are men out there that aren't abusive...I've been with one now for 23 years :)

| Been exactly where you are twice....thank goodness had no kids with either of my first two husbands one lasted 6 months the other a year.....both abusive went from bad to worse......bad picker.
Now been married 34 years a wonderful man who I adore.
Stay strong, rely on yourself.....remember you deserve better and look out for the warning signs of a controller......if the guy your dating is starting to make most of your decisions for you.....run fast and run far.....it's down hill from there on out.
Hang tough and keep the faith in God and yourself.
And allow those who have positive outlooks to surround and support you.

Thank you so much for the outpour of concern and hope . Things have been a struggle to say the least emotionally and no matter how many days pass I'm still finding very little peace with all of it.
I got back to California and my Dad got my dogs and I my own place. I started cosmetology school and completed 450 hours thus far , 1150 more to go . Sorry I haven't been on here , it has taken a lot of soul searching and figuring things out in solitude to start making steps to focus on my life and not what I have left behind. I did active a facebook about a month ago and am trying to figure out how to get back the things that used to make me happy. London & Vader are doing well and enjoying the stress free living environment.
I've been volunteering with our local pit bull rescue working with shelter dogs in hopes of giving them some skills to become more appealing to potential adopters.
I will make sure to be on more often as I am feeling a little bit more like myself again.

| I signed my final divorce papers yesterday, It gets better, easier and liberating when you realize that the way you have been getting treated and the life you have been living hasnt been "normal"...after a while you are so thankful for God getting you out of that situation and you are overcomed with a sense of freedom....and intolerance to abuse or neglect in anyway from anyone. Yeah!!! That would be awesome...my mom just passed away 2 weeks ago and I'm trying to get myself back into the habit of making time to ride so it would be therapy for myself also. |
