Short story. My mare injured her hock. Been a cpl years since injury. The problem is she's has an infection that won't go away. We have done 4 rounds of antibiotics, laser treatment, X-rays, active ice compression. She is 95% sound but there is that small aggravation. I think she has something floating around that needs to be drawn out of her hock because NOTHING shows on the X-rays. I am wanting suggestions for a wrap I can do that might help draw the infection or foreign body to the surface?? It has had 3 areas that have broken open and drained already but it needs to do it again. Any suggestions wld be appreciated

I don't have a suggestion for a wrap- but my suggestion would be to take your mare to a surgical vet who can completely debride that area- that's the only way that I know of that a deep seated infection will go away.  I had a gelding who had to have this done long after his hock healed up on the surface- good luck!

Has the joint ever been flushed? No suggestions other than to ask them to flush it when it breaks open to drain again. I'm going through infection in the coffin joint right now. The said the issue is that usually the infection gets in the lining of the tissue(I don't know what it's officially called but you get the idea) which makes it harder to get out. Have you got an ultrasound done of it? Maybe that will show something that isn't showing up with X-rays
