What type of floors do people put underneath their stall mats? We will not be having concrete. We are still deciding what we want in our new barn. Pros & cons of each. Please and thanks!

I got a load of rock dust and leveled the stalls out as best I could by dragging a board across it then placing the mats on top.

The best I ever saw was 4 inches of lime/sand mix over a sand base about 6 inches deep..
