Exactly! You cant fight genetics. We have a mare, she's 31 this year. We have had her 25 years. Her mane, no matter what, is 5 inches long. It's race horse length. We have never ever pulled it, cut it, she doesnt rub it, nothing. It just will not grow past that length. Both her colts, which are now 6 and 8 are just like her in the mane dept. |

Alot of concoctions to try to make a mane grow will actually burn the hair follicle and skin so be careful. This spring will trigger more hair growth. Just keep it clean with hosing once it's warm and just finger comb it. It will grow. |

Location: Dubach, LA | I think it's genetic too. I've owned one all her life. It is thick. She has more hair than any other horse I've ever seen, but it's not long. Never has been; never will be. Her mother, whom I also own, has a long thick mane and tail. I have a gelding that won't grow much mane or forelock no matter what I do. I treat them all the same but they have different hair quality and quantity. |

| Have you ever heard of putting mayonnaise in their mane and tail to help grow? Something about the protein or something like that will help it grow |

Location: Texas | It is genetic to a certain extent, and nutritional for the rest of it. Hair growth is triggered from within, feeding high doses of pure biotin will help more than anything. Most commercial products will have about 15 g of biotin, you need to up it to about 50 g.hooves and mane will grow!! |
