Location: Montana | We grow raspberries and we have cajillions of bushes of raspberries...well, not really but it seems like it sometimes. Is it possible to make my own raspberry leaf supplement for my mare out of our raspberry bush leaves? |

Location: Montana | If it is like raspberry leaf tea for humans, you can just dry the leaves and use them! According to Mare Magic, it is 100% raspberry leaf...nothing else. I think I'm going to try it this year. Now all I need is a Mare Magic scoop so I can get the right amount! LOL. I see you are in Montana, babiemox. If you aren't too far away I can hook you up with some home grown raspberry leaves...we have LOTS of them in the summer! |

| I grow raspberries too...who would have thought you could make your own Mare Magic I'd have to make sure to get leaves from my thornless raspberries though because the regular raspberry plants have thorns from HECK that will grab on to you like saw briers!!! |

Know what you mean! I would very carefully harvest the leaves. But on a little more serious note, it shows Mare Magic to be given at 3.78 grams, i.e. one of their scoops. So how do I measure it without their scoop? Will the appx. amount of a coffee scoop (about 2 tablespoons) be okay or what do I need to do? Thanks! |

Yep, just a cheap food or postage scale will work. I bought a $15 postage scale from eBay 10 years ago and I use it almost daily! It weighs in pounds, grams, kilo, and ounces and has a setting for "tare weight"......VERY handy to weigh food, postage, horse feed, supplements, etc. |

Location: Alberta, Canada | I steep 3/4 cup of dried raspberry leaf in 3 litres of water (I put in slow cooker) for 4 hours. I leave the leaves in it and transfer to a plastic bottle. I feed 1/2 cup a day as needed on top of feed. Works wonders. I get my raspberry leaf from the health food store but would assume drying your own leaves would be fine. |

Location: Kansas | Those of you who are feeding raspberry leaves, do you do so for a moody mare or for the calming effect? I'm wanting to find something for my very nervous mare and was considering raspberry leaves. Work well for anyone? |

Location: Piedmont, OK | To answer the question above It can be used for either. I use Raspberry leaves for a hot gelding to keep him calm and for a mare that cycles hard it seems to help keep her ovaries (which causes back soreness) from getting sore. |
