I know Caldwell quality, but what about the H3s? (Now PSC)....Are they comparable to the Caldwell quality? Fit horses the same? Found a used one and thinking about going that rout instead of a Caldwell.

About a month ago I decided to buy a h3 and give it a test run. I had people tell me they loved them, and people tell me they hated them. I still have my other caldwell, but I ride the h3 every day and love it, mines comparable to the Rocket tree. I bought mine used and someone had pulled the stirrups off center, and it took me a few days to get the back to normal. I am also 5'10 and the stirrups were nearly too short, but I took my nettles off of the Crown C I sold and put them on my h3, and it made them long enough. Besides the stirrup issue i had, i am very pleased with the saddle. The leather is also soft and feels like my caldwells.

Thank you for the input! Very good to know. I was curious if they held up as well as the Caldwells and if the leather was as soft. I've heard some people say they couldn't stay as centered in them as the Caldwells, have you had that problem?

Search old posts on here for more information. H3 is just a tree/type of saddle performance saddle company makes. Last I heard you had to go through Jamie or Ericka to order one.

No I dont have any problem staying centered. Mine is a 2011 model I think, and it still looks great and doesnt have any issues, and its been rode in hard.

It sounds like you bought my old H3. Indian border and conchos?

I loved the way that saddle rode. I recently just bought a new PSC and I love it. Brand new saddle and it doesn't feel like I'm having to go through that annoying breaking in process at all. I'm pretty short and I ride really forward so I like my stirrups to sit with my feet in front of me. It helps balance my riding out. This saddle lets me put my feet wherever I want. The quality of the saddle is just as good as Caldwell. And Kari the maker is a pleasure to work with.

I have both brands of saddles, really like them both.  Bought my Caldwells all used---the PSC is the first new saddle I've ever had.  Kari with PSC is great to work with & very helpful at getting exactly what you want and need.

From 1996 to 2011, ALL I rode in was Caldwells.  I bought and sold a lot of Caldwells too!  Now, I have sold all of my Caldwells (but 1 bought new in 2007 when I worked there) and I now have 7 PSCs and one more PSC on order that should be ready in a week.  I love them!  I love the way they ride and fit.  I have at least one of each tree.   And Kari is great to work with!   I have about 30 horses and we use these PSC saddles daily!
FYI: PSC is Performance Saddle Company and for a while they made the H3 line for the Hodges :)
