I am shopping around and I had a question about when it comes to trophy saddles and those that aren't. Too me I am not willing to pay the SAME price for a trophy version of a saddle as for one that is not. Am I being un reasonable? How much of price difference should there be in your opinion?
I feel like just because it has writing on it its still the same saddle. I see it as a cosmetic prefrence. Like if there were 2 saddles that were identicle but one had a black seat and one had a pink seat(i loath colored seats) i would pay 100 more for the black one just because i would never like a saddle with a pink seat. I see were your coming from though.
Wanted to add. Last year i sold a marlene mcrae that i bought new for 2700 i rode in it for a couple months got a new horse and it didnt fit the horse.i was heart broken because my husband had "love you big" put on the back (all my son would say at the time) beautiful saddle and looked like it had been ridden in 1 time. I put it up for sale 1900 with marlene pad it was a deal. I had a lady say she loved the saddle but hated the writing on the back and listen off how much it would cost to remove it and this went on for a whole page... bottom line she wanted it for 1300 that no one was going to pay more than that i told her she probably needed to find a different saddle then..i sold it the next day to a really nice lady.
Something like the writting on your saddle wouldn't bug me. But man, some of these trophied saddles with EVERY sponsor they can list in every inch of the saddle is a bit much. I understand where they are coming from with all the sponsors and what not.
The writing on a trophy saddle doesn't bother me and it hasn't kept me out of buying one as I feel they are the same saddle. But not many things bother me unles it is a BRIGHT colored seat or really wild painting on it or something.
