So I have a 18 yr old mare. She's put together nice and just a great mare. I've had her since she was 2 and grew up barrel racing on her. My problem is she is a very rough horse. She would always crow hop with me when I was younger if I wasn't seated just right. She's hasn't ran barrels in about 5 yrs but I recently started legging her back up. She's a very touchy horse and can just be straight up ****y if she doesn't want to lope. Pins her ears, and gets in this rough rythem and its hard to ride her. Once she starts trying to get me off balance then she will crow hop. Nothing I can't handle its just frustrating. I've hauled her other places and lope her in circles and she's a completely different horse. Nice and smooth. I plan on running barrels on her this summer but going to have the vet ok it first and make sure nothing is wrong. She runs and plays in the pasture its only when i ask her to lope at home. Has anyone had a horse like this before?

might be an issue with stifles or suspensories.  Might rule out suspensories if they horse hasn't had much activity unless she might have hurt herself in the pasture.  I'll be curious to what the vet says.  My gelding did it twice with me last summer on completely different occasions and we found stifles once and suspensory the second time.
