| Where did you get your horse stalls, did you buy them or make them yourself? Would love to see pictures. We're in the process of building a barn and I am looking at options for stalls, cost, etc! And what companies are the best for buying them...if that's the route we take. My husband is very good at building things but we are so busy I don't know if he will have time. I would like to have one done at least before my mare foals. |

We built ours and used oak. I think each board was around $4 or so. I have two 10x20 stalls and one 10x10.

| Those are beautiful!!! Thanks for posting! I guess the standard size is 12x12 and that's what we're planning on building but I like your idea of having a couple bigger stalls!

Location: Alberta, Canada | I will post some pictures of mine when I get home. Our barn is 40x30. Stalls are 10 long and 14 wide. We have a 12 foot alleyway. Instead of 6 stalls we went 4 stalls, an enclosed tackroom and a work area. I would not want to go any narrower with the alley and the larger stalls are great. The horses love being inside :) We also put an automatic livestock waterer between the two stalls we use the most. I have two mares who come in every night and I was hauling water last winter. Having the waterer was one of the best ideas we had! I'll get pics posted for you tonight :) |

I'm in Kansas so I don't think we could get oak for $4 a board...might be able to do pine or cedar though. |

| I have a 36 x 40 barn. 2 12 x 16 stalls, 4 12 x 12 stall and a 12 x 12 place on end, by the 12 x 16 stalls. |

Location: Nowhere Special | I ordered the kits from high country (I think, would have to go back and look) I like them they were reasonabily priced and so easy to put together I did several of mine by myself. I have 10x14, 10x12,(two) 10x10's and a 10x20.. My barn is 30x50 so I had to go with the 10 incriments. I did the grilled partition wall, and sliding doors. I don't like to let mine have their heads hang out into the alley, but they do have 24 foot out door pens attatched to the stalls. Most the wood is from the cull pile at the lumbar yard, saves a ton of money that way and with a board bender you can straigthen them out if they have a twist.. I'll see if it will let me add a pic

| My SO and I built our barn last summer. We did everything ourselves and no its not the most fancy barn but I love it.
This is right after we put it up. Only picture that i have that shows the fronts. His last name starts with an "R" so we thought that'd be a neat idea to add to the stalls.

well that is the only picture I could get to load and now it's too small for you to see. The grill is actually burglar bars that go on a house window...just a couple modifications and it worked great for the stalls and each stall only cost me around 45 dollars!!!
If the weather holds out I plan to finish up the stalls next weekend. I have tons of pics on my facebook page but I can't access my facebook while I'm at work. |

Close....burglar bars that go on house windows. LOL I was wandering around Lowes looking for ideas on what to use for the stall fronts and came across those. I will admit I was feeling pretty brilliant when I saw those. They are flush mount so there is no gap I just framed out the front of the stall and used some heavy bolts to attach them. |

I had this kind of dividers in my stalls too and the horses loved them because they could get air and see each other. I have had my stalls this way for over 20 years. One day, about 10 years ago, I had a horse bucking / playing in his stall and kick his back foot through the bars. Needless to say, he was hung in there till we could get him out. We got lucky and he only had bruising can a few cuts. We just marked it off as a fluke. This past fall I had another one do the same thing, of course, it was my good horse. Luckly he was found when it happened and with some recoup he is fine. Just beware what can happen. We have decided that twice is too many times. We are in the process of taking the bars down and making solid walls. I just have too much time invested to have something like that happen again. |

| We only have a one stall barn at my house, its large enough for 2 horses though and it is open to a 4 acre pasture. It is a 15x20 stall, with a tack room. It is not very feasible for more than 1 horse though, feeding time is a pain when I have 2 out there. I only have my one paint gelding now, so it isn't bad, but I still don't recommend this style. This was built by someone who has no horse sense at all, so...
